The point of this Forum Section

Some members are a little iffy on what should go in the Games & Humor forum section so.

Trivial games like "the person above you game" should be placed in this forum.

Humor of all kinds also belongs here, like the "Superman has a problem with kinky sex" thread.

What does not belong here would be things like video games, board games. Or humor coming directly out of comic books or discussion of books.

Boardgames and the like would go in the Action Figure and Toys section as could video games, though those could also be posted in the General Forum Section.

also any posts in this Forum Section do not count towards your post count.

Hope that helps!

And here I thought this thread was going to be about the very positive and sophisticated way he "came out", which was an extremely minor point in a very serious conversation.

My initial reaction was that he shouldn't do it as a publicity stunt, but after reading the article I realized he did it to further gays equality, which I'm all for. It just saddens me that so many people have real issues with gay people. I mean how is one person being gay hurting anyones civil liberties? It's funny I have a gay brother who only came out a few years ago and the reaction from the family was basically no reaction at all. It didn't change who he was so it didn;t change who he was to us. Such is the case with Mr. Quinto, he'll always be that head-carvin' sadistic sonuvvabitch with daddy issues to me....

both sides make a fair argument regarding one being some gay people may have a hard time comming out and i do agree the second part silent wich is i do believe some NOT all come out for a publicity stunt.

now honestly imo i dont care what this guy does because thats none of my buisness.

now if he chooses to make his private life public thats fine and i have no issue with it

Not true. There is a difference between not hiding something and wearing it on your sleeve. That said, I think that far too often if somebody's homosexuality is mentioned at ALL, it is somehow interpreted as "wearing it on their sleeve", which is unfair.

The fact that I'm heterosexual may very well be discerned from conversational clues, because I'm making no attempt to hide it. So if I refer to my wife, or my kids (though that isn't really a definitive sign), one might easily discern it. However, similar casual conversational revelations by gays are not uncommonly interpreted as "wearing it on their sleeve" or "making a big deal out of it". I agree, that's an unfair double standard.

I have never, to my recollection, EVER made comments in casual conversation as to the "hotness" of anybody, or wanting to "bag" someone, or anything else overtly sexual. The closest I've come is to make comments TO a specific person about finding them attractive, or possibly discussing, privately, among close friends, the possibility of pursuing a relationship with somebody. Personally, I'm not a big fan of that kind of talk, and would be happier if EVERYBODY, gay or straight, laid off that level of "too much information". THAT, in my opinion, is more the level of "wearing it on the sleeve", and there are plenty of people that don't raise it to that level. Of course, that's down to my comfort level, I guess. I just don't feel it is necessary to tell everybody what you'd like to do to whom, or what you DID do to whom.

To me, "wearing it on your sleeve" means that you bring it up all the time, so that it is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to interact with you without being reminded of whatever you are "wearing on your sleeve".

im not gay myself but i just think its rather pathetic that someone can have a career ruined because of what there sexual preferance is.

And good on him. We got ourselves another good one.

And in regards to ruining careers I offer this....

                Rosie O'Donnell
                Anderson Cooper
                Ellen DeGeneres
                Neil Patrick Harris
                Sir Ian McKellan
                Elton John
                Ricky Martin
                Chris Colfer
                Guillermo Diaz
                John Glover
                Adam Lambert
                Nathan Lane
                David Hyde Pierce
                George Takei

Their careers seem to be doing just fine.

Thank you. That's all people took out of apparently is Zach Quinto is gay. Never mind how he mentioned it in regards to the role he took and is portrayig in a play that is very influential to gay and straight people alike. but who has time to pay attention to all that. It was just a Zach Quinto is gay article right??

                    First off....IAN MCKELLAN IS GAY?!!!!!!!!!!

Secondly...I'd argue that George Takei and Ricky Martin no longer had careers when they "announced" their sexuality.

But I agree in principle. Its a cold world out there though and I'm sure you know as a minority, that people get fucked over for all kinds of things.

Yes Sir McKellan is gay as the sun is bright. And I kind of agree on the Ricky and George part but that just proves thei career dwindling had nothing to do with them being gay. ANd Im sorry if anyone was shocked by Ricky Marting coming out needs to have their eyes and head checked. Even breeders with no gayday could see that LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.

I've never understood the whole gauging whether or not you like an actor/actress by their personal life. Who the fucking fuck cares? I was pissed that Tom Cruise's career took a lull cause of the crazy couch jumping shenanigans. Dude still puts out entertaining movies. Can't wait for Ghost Protocol.

Do you ask the drive-thru cashier at McDonalds whether they're gay or not? Who cares, just make sure my burgers don't give me food poisoning.

The same with entertainers, actors, and other artists. Who gives two shits what Quinto is doing in the bedroom? Just keep giving me awesome Spock renditions, and I'll be happy.

Well, I imagine part of that is that many Actors/Actresses are MARKETED (to some degree) based on sex appeal. Anything that works against that would tend to decrease their marketability. People, I think, at least subconciously, react to movie stars (and other entertainers) based to some extent on how attractive they find them, and not just physically. So bizarre behavior, or sexual orientation revelations, that would make somebody less attractive to audience members effect how they feel about the actor/actress, even though, realisitically, said actor/actress was NEVER remotely a relationship prospect, sexual or otherwise.

And as far as NPH goes, I'd say his career has remained somewhat level since he came out.

Yeah, but it's still stupid. People need to learn how to separate real life from the fantasy we enjoy at the movies.

I get what you're saying though, and agree. I think it depends on the type of star too. I don't think Quinto has ever really been seen as an attractive "star" for many people. So I would imagine there wouldn't be many repercussions from his outing.

And I had no idea John Glover was gay, kind of makes me love him even more. Gremlins 2: The New Batch...bitches.
