The Odd Couple is currently airing on MeTV, in my area, anyway. I love that channel. And I especially love that I don't need cable to get it. They also air the old Batman and Wonder Woman TV shows. And Gilligan's Island, Hogan's Heroes, Get Smart, The Love Boat, the list of shows I watched in my younger days goes on and on. Granted, it may not always be quality television exactly, but it sure is fun.

I know a woman like this. She also happens to be my mother.

Parents are kind of a special case, but the older you get, the less that should be true, IMHO.

Given that I'm currently 41 years old, and will never be living with my mom again unless I'm taking care of her in her old age, I wouldn't put up with that sort of thing if it were to happen NOW, even from my mom. When I was younger and living at home rent free, then I'd just have to deal, I guess. But you have my sympathy if her standards of cleanliness are unrealistically high and you have no choice but to live with her.

Her standards of cleanliness aren't unreasonable necessarily; just higher than mine are. And also, she's fine with moving the mess as long as it's out of sight. So we've got messy drawers and such, but spotless floors, etc.

A well-ordered life is like climbing a tower; the view halfway up is better than the view from the base, and it steadily becomes finer as the horizon expands.
