  • July 30-day Challenge: Superheroes!!

It's been a while, so how about another 30-day challenge? This time... Superheroes!! I figured this challenge would be kind of fun and hopefully increase the activity around here.

Day 1 - Very first superhero you ever saw
It was probably Spider-Man "does whatever a spider can" from the 1960's cartoon that aired on KTVU Channel 2 (in CA). If it wasn't Spidey, it was collectively the Mighty Heroes as I watched that show a great deal as a child.

I can't say for sure it's the first I saw, but Christopher Reeves' Superman is the first I remember and by the time I was a toddler I had a full-size door poster of him. Mom liked science-fiction and grew up with comics so it's likely she took me to see Superman II even though I would've been a baby.

In fact, I thought of him as live action first, then a cartoon (Superfriends), and finally as a comic book.

      I'm in!

Day 1 - Very first superhero you ever saw

The first superhero I can RECALL seeing is Batman from the tv show on reruns. I'm sure there was something earlier, but this is the best of my memory. Seeing the tv show at age 3 in the living room, and I can't remember anything earlier than age 3 lol.

I vaguely recall seeing the Death of the Superman comic with the S in blood on the cover but it also might have been Batman since I'm pretty sure my very first VHS was the BTAS one with If You're So Smart, Why Aren't You Rich? and Riddler's Reform

            2. Favorite Superhero Show

The Lantern fan in me wants to say GL:TAS, but that's probably not accurate.

It's a near tie with the '66 Batman and Bruce Timm's Justice League/JLU, but I'm going to have to settle on Batman: The Animated Series.

That is the only acceptable answer

I wish I could go with Superfriends, GL:TAS, or Batman: TAS, but my heart tells me to go with JL/JLU. Such a great show. It's like everything that was great about Batman TAS, but with all of my favorite heroes.

Day 3 -- Favorite Superhero Movie

For years I've said X2: X-Men United. I'm not sure that's still accurate, but I haven't officially changed my mind, so I'll stick with it. I just like most of the elements of the movie. That movie upped the ante, added Colossus and Shadowcat, gave good backstory, and has maybe my favorite scene in any comic movie (the Nightcrawler White House break-in). Plus I love the plastic prison breakout.

But if I did re-evaluate, my next contenders would be Superman II; Batman: The Movie ('66), Iron Man, and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Cap has turned into my favorite comic book movie series. I can't think of a trilogy or series that is better.

Not even a question! There is only one correct answer!

Earth 2...the REAL one! The pre-Crisis version from 1938-1986.
