Apparently, someone beat me to it, but I'm going with GL Ch'p and Squirrel Girl.

    Ha! That's funny!

      Huh, let's see...I think I'll go with:

Hal Jordan and Tigra. I feel like if Hal met her, she would be a notch on his bedpost that he would NOT let slip away. He'd Captain Kirk that for a good long weekend then head back to the stars.

      • August 26 – Someone approaches about getting into comic books. What tips, advice and suggestions would you give this person?

I would tell them the most important things are:

Never buy comics thinking they are ever going to be worth anything.

The time to build a complete collection of titles going back to the silver age has passed. Don't bother trying.

Buy just what you enjoy reading.

Try to stick to trade paperbacks. Don't bother with individual issues.

Like West, I assumed this was about working in comics. If it's about collecting, yeah, I'd agree about saying not speculate on comic buying. Buy what you want to read. Try older stuff in trades (I'd recommend GL of course; and Watchmen). I'd warn them that it's an expensive hobby and not to get carried away.

Ch'p and Squirrel Girl would be so awesome!

I'll go with some other popular "shipping" between characters.

            Thor and Wonder Woman

            Deadpool and Harley Quinn

First I'd ask what made this person decide to get into comic books. What it the movies, cartoon series, comic conventions or other. Ya know, get to know the origins of the interest. Then, instead of recommending single issues, I'd probably recommend the trades so they can get the full story arc.

And like noted above, I wouldn't recommend buying comics as a financial investment.

I'd also share why I got into comics what are my favorite stories.

That is so open, it's almost impossible, but I guess I'll go with my favorite cover, which is Green Lantern/Green Arrow #76 (second series):

Although, to be honest, even that is a near tossup to #85

The image of Reeves' Superman flying over earth (posted above) would be my live-action choice. I think it's the perfect embodiment of the hope, fantasy, and heroism Superman (and by extension all superheroes) inspires.

Oh my goodness...I don't know if I can narrow it down to one!

I mean, it's GOING to be a Green Lantern image, and I have about 30 GL images that I love to look at, either because they are so good, make me happy, or take me back to a particular time in my life.

                  • Going with the cover that sucked me into being a GL fan when I was 11, and what sucked me into over 30 years of continuous comic collecting. This is pure nostalgia for me; when I look at this cover, I remember sitting on the steps outside and reading it from cover to cover when I got home with it from the grocery store.

                      • August 28 – When and/or where do you usually find yourself reading comic books?

My bed. First thing in the morning if they're digital, and if its physical, then late at night when I'm off of work and winding down.

A little embarrassed to answer this one, except I know there are others like me here and out there: I read like 95% of my comics in the bathroom. I usually can get through two a day and finish all my new books before the next set release (often with one or two old backissues I have stacked up also).

Occasionally, because I have too many or because I'm particularly excited or I'm going away from home for a while, I'll read some right away on Wednesday (in my den or room).

A great choice. Truly iconic and from a comic that changed everything.

                          • I read them pretty much everywhere

In bed, my toilet, and my desk where my computer is

Same here. For years now I do most all of my comic reading in bed at the end of the day. Usually when I am done playing on my laptop, which is another reason it takes so long for me to get around to reading my weekly stack.

Every time I use SC's method it doesn't pan out because I'm never there long enough to get more than a few pages into it. I wait until I really have to go and then it seems like I am done by the time my ass hits the bowl.

Moving into the realm of total indiscretion, it does require a commitment.
It helps that I'm unemployed and a homebody (so not many lavatory visits are away from home). I also purposely choose to read at least one page per visit even for standing visits and I even read while brushing my teeth. I sometimes do the end-of-the-day comic reading, but I prefer not to because that's when I like to do leisure book reading.
