I don't even care about the differences and explanations, I still haven't heard what this comes from. What's the source? Is it from a speech, song, movie? Who noticed the different pronunciations and posted it?

Yeah, I heard the supposed medical explanation for how that can be but it still seems like it would be an aberration. In the billions of people in the world, there's probably someone who hears Lincoln as turpentine, but it doesn't mean it's right.
According to bit difference, Laurel lies with sound frequency. The sound waves that allow us to hear Yanny is at a higher frequency, whereas the sound waves that allow us to hear Laurel are at a lower frequency. As we age, it's common that we start losing our ability to hear the higher frequency sounds.
