if theyre both energy then no, since IIRC they'd both travel at the same speed; I think it would depend on who fires 1st & the distance needed to be crossed for watever effect.....

I think Cyclops is just to hated to have any writter let him win a fight. Realstically though I would back him. Storm seems to always have to have a few seconds to summon her big powers. Wich is not good against someone who could vaporize you the moment they see you. However it is funny how his optic blast can melt metal like butter yet anytime he hits a human with it all it does is ripp thier close and smoke a little.
So in short. Cyclopse should win,but never actually would because he is sooooo hated.
In fairness though that comes from a knowldge that only spans late 80's -90's. God only knows what silly retcons have taken place since then. I mean Wolverine living through getting his head ripped off? Come on now.

Regarding the battle, I suppose the weather would be a factor. If it's a sunny day, it would take Storm a bit of time to conjure up clouds. Still, she is able to create winds from nothing and could throw Cyke up into the sky while she does her magic. In the end, if Storm doesn't get hit by an optic beam, I think she has too much power to lose the fight... and I've often wondered about Rotten's point of Cyke's beams melting metal, but only acting as a heat force beam when it comes to flesh.Comment

Hulk VS wolverine. Hulk rips off his head and he still lives. Yet as a former fan of Wolverine I remember a pannel where he was afraid of being eaten by alligators.
A sad truth is that popularity is the most badass of super powers. Superman VS Batman would never happen in a world of logical thinkers. But Batman is protected by a shield of Crazy fans who just like him so much that even a man who can littrally move a planet can't beat him in a fight.
Logic say to me if Cyclops can see you he can hit you with a wide beam,wich if it is at normal strength should make you a smoldering pile of ashes. I am not sayin Storm is a whimp. far from it. She is way more powerful. Her powers are often described as god like. I mean Storm could probably use her powers to destroy the whole planet and cause a obscene amount of damage.
Cyclops just has a pretty efficient power for killing people. It always seems storm has to conjure her good stuff. Cyclops is a one trick pony,but it is a hell of a trick and he can do it in the blink of an eye so to speak.
Real world -Cyclops. Marvel Comic -Storm every time.

cuz I havent seen the former, but in regards to the latter that was the Ultimate version IIRC, not the 616 (and as such doesnt really apply)......
I dont think Storm winning is due to her popularity tho; I dont care for the chara too much currently, but Id still give her the nod in a fight (mostly due to her having a bag of tricks up her sleeve as opposed to being a 1-note joke like Scott.)

Let's not split hairs of what is or is not in contunity. The fact remains Wolverine abilities have become almost silly from his early days. I heard tell that he survived a nuclear explosion tearing all the flesh off his bones. That's just stupid if it is true.
As far as Cyclops. I think he gets hardcore underestamated. I have seen his optic blast make short work of things much more dense then Human/Mutant flesh. and though I most remember him screamin "JEAN"! a billion times in the X-men cartoon. He has a super badass power. Problem is he is to disapleded to unleash it. I think that is her one shot. I can't Imagine Scott trying to kill anyone,and with someone as powerful as Storm you can't give her a chance to come at you. Take life with a Grain of salt and a shot of tequila!
