The point of this Forum Section

Some members are a little iffy on what should go in the Games & Humor forum section so.

Trivial games like "the person above you game" should be placed in this forum.

Humor of all kinds also belongs here, like the "Superman has a problem with kinky sex" thread.

What does not belong here would be things like video games, board games. Or humor coming directly out of comic books or discussion of books.

Boardgames and the like would go in the Action Figure and Toys section as could video games, though those could also be posted in the General Forum Section.

also any posts in this Forum Section do not count towards your post count.

Hope that helps!

Well, this was tough. I find it easier to make a one-on-one decision, strangely, than to pick 8 out of 10. I really feel like I'm shafting the two I didn't vote for, and that isn't my intention. Had to drop somebody, and my first inclination was to stick with line-ups that had a unique theme, to preserve some real variety in later voting. Then I had some really tough choices to make...

My whole mindset for this draft was that it should be for what would be the most successful possibility of a Justice League movie. Not to be the most unique or interesting version of the team.

Anyone goes to see a Justice League movie, and they will feel cheated if they dont have Superman or Batman. The reason I went with a classic line up for the most part, is that its what people naturally think of when they think of the Justice League. Plus you could have Jason being the viewpoint of the audience. A teenager entering alongside the likes of super beings in battle. It would give the same view as an average person seeing these beings for the first time.

Well, that makes sense. I guess I wasn't thinking about plausibility of being made so much, because I'm not convinced that having ANY JL movie made is terribly plausible. Your viewpoint is a good one, though, and kind of makes me wish I had waited a bit for posts like this one before rushing to vote.

Of course, I'm hoping people don't put TOO much stock in plausibility of being made, since while I really feel my lineup COULD make for a thoroughly enjoyable flick that would appeal beyond the core comic fan audience, the plausibility of actually ASSEMBLING my cast for a real movie is....let's just say low.

I guess my stance isnt so much as the actual likelihood of it being made, cause Im pretty sure it'd be hard to get most of the cast we all have together for a movie, but more so the thinking of "If this movie was made, would people go see it?" I can easily say that if your version was made Ed, people would definitely see it. If not for the love of the story its based on, then definitely the mere curiosity of the concept.

Ah, I get it. And I'll probably factor that into my thinking now (though I admit, there's likely to be a dose of "which would I rather watch" in there, too at some point, even in cases where I strongly suspect my tastes don't exactly line up with those of the general public).

I voted for the ones I felt had the best or most interesting actors portraying these characters. This was after all an actors draft, not a lineup of the league draft.

The reasons were MOSTLY due to the actor lineup. The League lineups are fairly standard and League Lineups will never, at any point, be a deciding factor in the draft for me, as the actual League lineup changed often enough that that shouldn't matter.

Most teams had actors with believable ages for a JLA lineup. The problem with Jeff's was that it was all over the place. Jared Padalecki and Cobie Smulders (Superman and Wonder Woman) are 30, while Clive Owen (Batman) is approaching 50. Jason Lewis (Aquaman) is 41, NPH is 38, and Mike Doyle looks 35-40. The world he's painted has a Batman who's been working for at least 15 years and a Superman and Wonder Woman who have only been around for 5. The other 3 are relatively believable in their ages, but a fresh-faced Superman alongside a clearly aged Batman is where I see the biggest problem. I do like the idea of each of them separately in those roles, but Clive would work in almost a Dark Knight Returns World, whereas Jared would be better in a regular Superman film.

My other drop was between Primus and Regolith. Primus' old team with Gina Carrano and Isaiah Mustafa just didn't make sense as a New 52 team, especially as Cyborg has been established as being 21-23. Regolith's team fails simply for having a 55-year old Michael Clarke Duncan as Cyborg, who is traditionally younger than the Justice League, especially as he was a Teen Titan in the previous universe.

I'm also disappointed that neither of the Morrison teams picked Plastic Man.

Side note: Heide almost lost my vote due to his selection of Mila Kunis, who is too petite and not commanding enough to be Wonder Woman.

If we had ten instead of just seven slots, I would have included Aquaman (Tom Hardy), Oracle (Ellen Page) and Plastic Man, but it would have been amazingly hard to find an actor that would stay true to the character without a) being annoying as fuck and b) completely ruining the tone of the movie.

She really is. Don't know what I was thinking. But I thought you had a bigger problem with Gyllenhaal?

And we could have created a much, much worse lineup for Regolith. Adam Sandler as Electro Superman, Bobcat Goldthwait as The Yazz, John Travolta as Major Disaster, Eddie Murphy as Cyborg, Dane Cook as Triumph, Megan Fox as Faith and Jamie Kennedy as Congorilla. Directed by Uwe Boll.

The reason I went with an older Bats is so he could be more of the mentor to the younger Superman.

Oh, I do have a problem with Gyllenhaal. But my problem with Kunis was definitely bigger. Gyllenhaal will likely cost you a vote in the future.

Regolith picked his own lineup If he hadn't, there wouldn't have been a #9 and #10 slot.

The problem with any movie that features Superman is it will be set to certain standards, and liberties can't be taken with the character; he MUST be a boyscout. Because of his iconic status, you can't do anything different with him (aside from Red Kryptonite exposure) without pissing everyone off. Also, if Superman is on a team, you have to severely power him down so everyone else seems to be on his level, and that would raise all sorts of questions to the casual movie goer.

In addition, with a character like Wonder Woman, she MUST take a lead role with the team otherwise her creator's family won't allow her to even be in the film. That's too much crap to deal with.

I went with International because it's a meld of diverse personalities and characters in addition to being heroes. Seeing these guys work within a team dynamic would be where all of the fun is and Tarentino can bring that out with my group of actors. Even with all these personalities, I still have Batman and Martian Manhunter (Shane West and Lawrence Fishburne) to keep them all in line. I'd have Guy acting out and trying to get in Ice's pants and Batman knocking him out with "one punch."

Instead of going classic with a bunch of stiff icons, I went with personality and fun.
