    • I guess I should apologize for spoilers, to those people that haven't watched Lost yet, but still intended to. Oh well, sorry. It has been years though, after all.

      • I was going to pick Booster and Beetle for Charlie and Hurley, but the relationship is kind of what made that work, IMHO. Beetle as Hurley without Booster as Charlie just doesn't fly, even with this pic:

EDIT: To be absolutely clear, this is NOT a pick.

                • Can I take a small moment and say that while I think that's a great pick and all, Ozymandias has to be seriously the dumbest smart guy ever. I mean, this is a guy who read the poem of Ozymandias, this:
                  + YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed:
And on the pedestal these words appear:
"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.
And somehow thought of Ozymandias as a role model. There is literally no possible way for anyone to read that poem and think that they'd want to be Ozymandias. I get people watching Scarface and thinking "Yeah, I wanna be Tony", because at least Tony made a big hit in the scene and then went out guns-a-blazin', but Ozymandias' ENTIRE story is that he once was the King of Kings and is now the King of nothing. His entire point is to say that nothing matters in the grand scheme of things! Adrian Veidt is just such an idiot.

"Prisons and graveyards, full of boys who wore the crown."
                    "Point is...they wore it."

                    • West you should my other character pick as well.
I LOVE conspiracy theorists. They are like human versions of the cymbal clapping, dancing monkeys. No one takes them all that seriously and they get bored with them after about 10 minutes.

                      • Well, to be fair, name aside, he actually idolized Ramses II, who had some pretty impressive accomplishments and is still remembered more than 3000 years after his death. It has been a while since I read Watchmen, so I don't recall if it ever explains why he chose that name. Perhaps he was being ironic?

Which I think makes it worse that he idolizes Ramses II because that's who the poem is based off of. I think it's just more of my problems with Watchmen. Alan Moore is more preoccupied with the symbolism and theme work of the story than the actual story itself, so we get things like this.

I've just been thinking about this a lot lately. More than I ever really should.
