No. No. "Dislike" implies I could take her or leave her. I loathe Donna to the core of my being. She is my absolute least favorite companion. Before that, it would've been Peri and then Mel, but the one plus side to Donna has been that it made me realize if I were the Doctor I could tolerate those two, but I'd murder Donna "Oi" Noble. I can't stand when idiots get cocky but have no skills to back it up. She's loud and obnoxious. She's just the lady I imagine in a bar making a scene that I would give a wide berth as I walked to the men's room.

So my least favorite companions are now probably: Donna, Peri (she moved up as a I realized she was at least cute), and Mel.

My favorites would be Sarah Jane and Ian. Then I'd have to think about it, but maybe Marsha, Rose, Zoe, or Nyssa.

*strangles you violently* You hate Donna? You hate PERI? My favourite companion (joint with Ace and Rose)? And I dislike Sarah Jane too.

        • So, basically you like rude, sassy women? Smart and nice, not so much.

          • I like quirky companions. My ideal companion really is Rose, she was slightly sassy but intelligent also. I found Ace funny, and Donna was a good laugh, it was a nice change having a companion who was like the doctors buddy who'd hang around with each other in high school, it makes a good change from stunning women who fancy him. Peri was cute, and could hold her own against the doctor, Colin needed a companion like that. And Ace was rude but also very funny, the doctor felt like a parental figure to her. While Hartnel was like Susan's grandfather (which he was), Ace seemed like a daughter to McCoy.

Sarah Jane however while she is smart and nice is absolutely boring, Jo's way better than her, I think I might even pick Liz over Sarah. Sarah was uninteresting, had no quirks or anything. I'm pretty neutral over Ian though, but then again I'm pretty neutral over the whole Hartnel era, that was like the neutral era for me as I know little about it and there's not an outstanding story for me in that era I've seen yet, the closest for me is the surviving episode of Celestial Toymaker which I loved, but obviously I never saw the whole thing. Not seen Tenth Planet though so I might like that. Note I've seen Dalek invasion and the first Dalek one but they weren't that brilliant IMO.

I wouldn't call Rose "intelligent." She could be clever or quick sometimes but they made a point (like when she sucked at the trivia game) that she wasn't the most learned companion. But I liked her anyway. The difference to me was that Donna actually mocked the Doctor and acted as if she was better than him when she clearly wasn't. I liked her grandfather, though. I would've preferred him as a companion.

Rose would occasionally joke with the Doctor but she clearly deferred to him, which all the companions should.

              • Whenever the Doctor told Rose not to do a certain thing, she would do it anyway. Every single time.

That's like 2/3 of the companions. Frankly, I didn't like her much at first and I hated when she mocked Sarah Jane, but I got to like her camaraderie with 10 (even though I would rather they hadn't made it quite so obvious that they were going the "more than friends" route).

But for some reason Rose just didn't grate on me like Donna. But when Donna would start with the "ois" and the "bean pole" references, I just wanted to turn off the TV. It's the same thing that was so annoying about Tegan, when she would mock the Doctor's piloting skills.

I hate cockiness in general but when it is done with charm and can be backed up with insane skills (like say Cap. Kirk, Lara Croft, Hal Jordan, or the Doctor himself) I'm more likely to give it a pass. When it's from an ignorant savage with no discernible skill? Not so much.

I would have loved to see him and Rory's dad be the companions.

                    • I hated Rory and his entire family, especially Amy Pond. That whole era sucked actually. Sorry, just getting some of the bitterness out my system.

                      • Lol. I wasn't crazy about the Ponds either but you gotta admit the Pond thing aside. The two of them together would be hilarious.
