It may not have been serious, but my reasoning was. But they should go into more detail considering the gender regeneration question.

I can't believe you both left out discussion of the most amazing thing that happened in yesterday's episode.
We heard Paul McGann (the 8th Doctor) sending out a distress signal.
PAUL McGANN!!! I was watching this with my brother and when that happened, I looked at him dead in the eye and said, "Oh my god. THAT was Paul McGann!" He grabbed the remote and rewound it immediately, his teenage children saying "Who?" To which I explained Paul McGann played he 8th Doctor, and we relistened to the distress call three times. There is absoolute NO question about it.
The rest of the episode was great, yeah, but that? THAT blew my mind.
And the way the Doctor responded to it when asked if that was the Time Lord he was looking for? "No... thats something else."
OMHFC! I can't wait to see where that leads us moving forward.

I want to see a mini series, spin-off, direct to dvd, TV movie, WHATEVER of Paul McGann as the 8th Doctor in "Doctor Who : The Last Great Time War". Then we could actually see what The Doctor went through, the destruction of Gallifrey, everything 9 and 10 always talked about. Then at the very end show The Doctor regenerating into his 9th form. Chris Eccleston states he would never return. But they could just digitally insert his face for the regeneration at the end.

I'd like to see that as well. Which is far more likely to happen then the Time War I want to see. I bet they'll do a big budget film for or after the 5th Anniversary. Then I want my dream of Doctor Who Lego sets and a Lego DW video game!

I think River Song could be the Corsair, who we KNOW did regenerate as a woman at least once

I think Corsair wasn't killed by House (Timelords can take a lot of punishment and if his body was harvested after a regeneration it would've grown back), he might've escaped after making a deal to lure in other Tardis's for him, then somehow lost his memory and became River Song
I could buy the girl being River Song as well as Amy's daughter, and even a conduit for Sexy/Idriss/TARDIS
