yeah, I can't talk to any of my friends about it because they all watch it on BBCA, while I get the torrent, so it's from BBC1.

New Torchwood Trailer here
I find it difficult to believe it'll be as impressive and thought provoking as 'Children of Earth', given that the intervention of Starz will sanitize it.Minimum space distance:

Despite the flak it got for ending the series, I like COE, it was thought provoking, I was amazed at how many people watching it went 'yea, hand over the kids' without batting an eyelid

Disappointingly, all this really meant was that it gave Jack and Owen free reign to shag themselves silly and Jack and Ianto to have more than a few gay encounters - rather than doing what (the brilliant and inspiring) CoE finally managed and, as you say, introduce thought provoking and challenging stories.
Sadly I think CoE was only a one off and they'll be back to bad innuendo and bland plots with this new series.Minimum space distance:

The sanitization I'm suggesting if of challenging subjects, such as consciously killing one child to save many and dealing with it in a way which will resonate with the audience instead of ,say, killing the child off screen then having the father go off the rails in an unrealistic and stereotypical Hallmark-channel-infotainment way.Minimum space distance:

So many things wrong with this:
1) It's anime, my least favourite form of animation. I'd give the job to John Romita Jr before an animétor
2) 3rd Doctor (urgh)
3) It's animé!
4) The mixture of Japanese(?) and splicing the soundtrack from an old episode (okay the latter was fair enough, but why was the Japanese necessary(!?!)
5) It's animé!!
6) Proportions people! If eyes were that big, we'd all be nocturnal! Also the Doctor and the master and U.N.I.T. soldiers were all older than 12.
7) It's animé!!!
8) what the Hell is the Brig doing in Japan? If you're going to set in in Japan, surely there's enough bad anime soundtrack to rip off to fires missiles with.
9)It's animé!!!!
10) We don't need the theme tune running all the way through.
11)It's animé!V
Who the hell is the scantily clad redhead supposed to be?
12) It's animé V
13) do they have HMV in Japan?
14) It's animé V!
15) What are Chamber (Weapon-X edition), and Sakura
16) Davros is not the Emporer Dalek, he only used it as a disguise in Rembrance of the Daleks
17) It's !"£$%^ing animé V!!
However, brilliant use of the old BBC tag; The lost episodes need to be animated, given that the soundtrack still exists but the video has been lost - I wouldn't do them in Animé though; Can't argue with the timing of the splicing, that was really well done (lip-sync notwithstanding).
I know I'm going to get flak for my disdain of animé so I'm going to add my defence here.
Anime, especially Manga had some brilliant story lines (I'm a big fan of Helsing) and was the first popular mass-producer of adult (or rather non-child focussed) animation and for that I applaud them. However, I thoroughly dislike the visual style and wonder if the adoption of the style has become so popular because people has mis-appropriated it as being the cause of Manga being so popular, rather than the stories: An example (controversial though it may be) could be people adopting Dave Gibbons / John Higgins* art style because Watchmen was so popular, mis-appropriating it because Alan Moore's writing was excellent.
*Disclaimer - I happen to think Dave Gibbon's art and John Higgins' colouring was brilliant and if I could choose a style with which to anime Doctor Who, it would be Gibbon's/Higgins'!Last edited by chivalrous; 06-03-2011, 11:26 PM.Minimum space distance:
