I watched two seasons of SJA because it was a marathon (I DVRed) on BBC-A and because it had Sarah Jane as the star. I've put Torchwood in my Instant Queue but I have yet to watch an episode. I've caught a few moments here and there and I just don't like the idea of a show in the DW universe without the Doctor or the TARDIS.

I never understood how Owen was destroyed in that episode. He's already dead so he couldn't have drowned.

What went wrong was that they Americanised Miracle Day. They shouldn't have killed Yanto in COE as you say. In fact, Tosh's death in series 2 could have been avoided and maybe even Owen's (although there was an actual storyline for that) plus he was one of my favourite characters.
They should have kept Yanto alive at least though, Torchwood should have stayed open after COE, Gwen shouldn't have gotten preggers, and they should have started recruiting and then gone back to normal like in series 1&2. Also, does anyone else find it funny that Miracle Day was a big deal to Earth and all, yet not even one reference about it in doctor who.

Torchwood Series 3 was a mixed bag. I didn't like what they did to coffee boy, and the depressing tone. On the other hand it was probably the most nail-biting series of them all.
Miracle Day was shit though. I had to force myself to finish the series. Too bad it basically killed Torchwood and we'll probably never going to see Captain Jack Harkness again.

Yeah the thing is I never warmed to Eccleston. I don't just judge a doctor on their character, I judge it on their story's and their era in general. But yeah I suppose it is surprising that a C.Baker and Eccleston fan doesn't like Hartnel. The thing is I've just never seen a Hartnel story that's ever won me over. I saw the remaining 4th episode of the Celestial Toymaker and loved it though, that would probably be my favourite 60s serial if it survived. Sad how serials like the Celestial Toymaker and Tenth Planet have missing episodes then awful serials like the Aztecs are complete. That was just plain awful, definitely the worst classic serial I've ever had the displeasure to see. Might even be the worst doctor who story full stop. Was like watching a Shakespearian play. Yuck.Originally posted by Space Cop View PostI'm surprised that someone who likes Eccleston and Colin Baker so much would dislike Hartnell so much. Then again, I shouldn't "talk." My favorite doctor is #5 (the nicest doctor) and my second favorite is #1 (the meanest).
Hey five had some Hartnelish moments too. He could be very sarcastic (which is my favourite quality of his) and occasionally he had a similar tone of voice to Hartnel.
Yep. Didn't like SJA much apart from one or two stories and they were probably the ones with the doctor anyway. Loved Torchwood though, it's an absolute delight. I don't care if a lot of the fandom hate it, I absolutely adore it, I definitely prefer the first two series of it to Moffat Who. Children of Earth was a tad too depressing for me despite everyone else worshiping it (although I haven't seen it in years, so I might like it better now). Miracle Day was underrated. While it certainly wasn't outstanding it wasn't that bad either. Rex is cool and Oswald Danes is a right bastard! Slow going mind you, should have been five or so episodes like COE. What is it with 2011, everything just sucked. It almost ruined torchwood and probably secured its death, Series 6 of Doctor Who is the worst in living memory, and we got quite a few shit films.Originally posted by DOOM View PostDo any of y'all watch the Sarah Jane Adventures or Torchwood?
Oh and that was the year my life turned to shit.
Anyway while we're on the topic of doctor who, here's a micro gif I made of the 11th doctor regenerating into the 12th.

Thanks, guys.
I'll probably start Season 1 as soon as I finish Season 1 of Lost.

Yeah, but will you enjoy it as much? Everyone has different tastes. You might be like me and prefer doctors like Tennant, McGann, Eccleston or Colin Baker, or you might like the complete opposite of me such as Hartnel, Smith and Tom Baker. Everyone has different tastes. My recommendation is that you should try one story of each doctor and that should help you choose your whovian path.

Oh, don't get me wrong. Eccleston is my favorite Doctor, and I prefer Tennant to Smith. I'm just saying that to get into Doctor Who, you don't need to start in 1963, nor in 2005. You can start with the girl who waited, fish fingers and custard. You'll learn everything about our favorite Timelord and his enemies along with the Ponds and... that guy from The Lodger, Stormageddon's dad, forgot his name. He was in Lesbian Vampire Killers as well. And if you like it (and you will), you can still go back to the Davies era, or even further.

I'd have to disagree with half of that. While Tenant is my favorite Doctor (having only started from the Eccleston days) I liked Matt Smith more than Eccelston.

Nope, Smith's run is nowhere near as good as Eccleston's and Tennant's.
