    • I wonder if there's a lot more going on in the small detail in that episode:
      The TARDIS picking Clara as the visual interface;
      the TARDIS letting Clara fly her/it;
      Clara being able to fly the TARDIS (badly, but she still managed it!);
      A pioneer time traveller who just happened to be living through time very very slowly;
      A journey through the history of earth from beginning to end;
      "I'm slow, I'm missing something obvious"

      I get the feeling the answer is being hidden in plain sight.

      Slightly more obscure and off the wall. The Doctor married Elizabeth the first and debunked her nickname (The Virgin Queen). In real life, there's a conspiracy theory that Elizabeth I had a child. Could Clara be a descendant of the Doctor and Elizabeth I?

      • Well it looks like Liz I is appearing in the 50th (which the doctor running off and leaving her would explain why she hates him so much in that Shakespeare episode with the tenth doctor). But if she is the doctor's doctor, the theme is getting repetitive now. The tenth doctor hd a daughter which survived, then Amy and Rorry had a timelord daugther, but if Clara seems to be some timelord hybrid too, we'll know for sure that Moffat has lost all imagination.

            Cool. That would fit with Tennant being confirmed for the 50th.

                • Ah, an excellant find! I think it's part of them giving a nod to other past doctors. We've already seen a Baker scarf on Kate Stewart and a figure that looks simular to the third doctor walking away with a Zygon, now it seems someone is wearing an Eccleston coat. I have a feeling they added that part in after Eccleston delined to resprise his role.

                  Also, notice how the figure loks like Ian McEllen, whom voiced the great intelligence in "The Snowmen",that gets me thinking the great intelligence will play a role in this. He might even be the cause of the zygons, cybermen, and daleks being there. (they announced the cybermen and dleks were taking part too for thoe who didn't know)

                    Is it Ian McKellan or Peter O'Toole? Both look similar when they're sporting beards

                      I LOVE conspiracy theorists. They are like human versions of the cymbal clapping, dancing monkeys. No one takes them all that seriously and they get bored with them after about 10 minutes.

                        Possible. I think it'd make more sense to use Ian McKellen though. I have a feeling the Great intelligence will play a crucial role in the 50th.

                        Ah, didn't know you were a doctor who fan! But anyway, nice find. I'm really looking foward to this one.

                        • I have just recently gotten into the show. I finished all of Eccleston's run and am a season into Tennant. I haven't met the Ponds yet. I have seen later episodes with Matt Smith as well. I made a joke to my roomies recently that I watch the show like I'm a TARDIS I have seen episodes with Matt Smith and episodes with Tennant that are season away from where I am and then I go back to where I am actually at and piece everything together. Kinda fitting considering the show. But I do love the hell out of this show. I swoon for Tennant lol.

                          • Excellant! You should try the clasic series too. If nothing else, at least watch the 1996 TV movie with Paul McGann. If nothing else, you'll probably fancy him.

                            Who's your favourite doctor BTW? And as for the Ponds, you've not missed much. Along with Mel (who was with the sixth and seventh doctors), they are the worst companions ever! So boring, and Amy is just a plain loud Scot. The best Pond era episodes in my opinion are "The Impossible Astronaught"/"Day of the Moon" (Series 6 Episodes 1-2) and "The Angels Take Manhattan" (Series 7 Episode 5). Alot of people liked episodes such as "The Doctor Wife" (Series 6 Episode 4), and "Vincent and the Doctor" (Series 5 Episode 10), but personally I hate them. But really it depends what kind of doctor who you like, whether it be the more centimental episodes like Vincent & the Doctor or The Doctors Wife, or the more full on action packed series finalees of the Tennant Eccleston era.

                            For the clasic series, I'd watch one serial of each dotor to see which doctor and era you like and don't. Here's what I'd recomend:

                            First Doctor (Willian Hartnel):
                            The Daleks - Most people prefer the dalek invasion of earth, but this is th origin story and in my opinion better and just more fun to watch. I myself am not a huge Hartnel fan and don't have many of his DVDs, so it was hard to pick one of his. The Time Meddler was one of his better one too.

                            Second Doctor (Patrick Troughto):
                            The Tomb of The Cybermen - Now everyone loves this one as it's a clasic, but I feel it's earned that honour to be remembered as perhaps the best Cyberman story of all time. A brilliant typical sixties sci-fi at it's best. I love this one myself! I found the Invasion which also had the Cybermen a bit long winded, but I'm not a big fan of the longer seials. They also appeared in "The Moonbase" and "The Wheel in Space" in the Troughton era, but unfortunetley 2/4 episodes of the Moonbase are missing, and I think only 1/6 survive of the Wheel in Space. Maybe 2, but still not many. I've seen the surviving episodes of them though, and I tell you now they are top quality. SOme people didn't like Moonbase much, but if it was complete, chances are I might prefer it. Maybe same goes for Wheel in Space. I heard they were animating the two missing episodes of moonbase like they did with 2/8 episodes of the invassion.

                            Third Doctor (Jon Pertwee):
                            The Three Doctors - Again, not a huge Pertwee fan, but a have a few more of his serials. I find alot of them though a bit too long winded and poliical (heads up, the Mutants is amazingly overated. A real bore fest). But the Three Doctors is a shinning example of a fun Pertwee episode. Then again, that may be ore down to the return of Troughton livining up the atmospherre and omega being such a great villain along with Brigidears reaction to the second doctors return (lol) then Pertwee being a good actor. Hartnel was quite funny in it too, but unforunetley he didn't appear much seeing he was ill.

                            Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker):
                            Genisis of the Daleks & Logopolis - Genisis becuase it's the definitive dalek story and everyone loves it, I found it a bit long winded but still worht a watch and great concept, and Logopolis becuase it's Bakers last episode and personally my favourite. Great regeneration! Also worht seeing Keeper of Traken which is great and Castravalva with the Fifth Doctor which is disapointing though as it's part of the Master Return trillogy. Trust me, Logopolis is aweosome!

                            Fifth Doctor (Peter Davison):
                            Earthshock - Probably the easiest choice ever! An amazing episode, is actually my first clasic episode which must have been good seeing I've been hooked on them ever since. Combines the bit action finalee style with the emotional, so it caters to both styles, and is just plain awesome. It made millions of people care about a character (I won't tell who ) who previously they hated with a passion (something which they should do with GL SImon baz. . A fantastic episode, and the return of the cybermen! me love it long time!

                            Sixth Doctor (Colin Baker):
                            Revelation of the Daleks - A really hard choice as despite what anyone says, Colin Bakers era had many good stories and is a personal favourite. I chose Revelation as it's just an awesome story. Wonderfully dark! Davros and the Daleks and their mother fucking cunting best!!!!!!!!!!!! If you lik the Eccleston era, you'll like this one! Plus this one reminds me of alot of his dalek episodes (the music was quite Eccleston like for it's time and the concept of making humans into daleks was introduced here). Plus the creppy little perv in the toupe was still funny, even in this dark and serious episode! I'd also highly recomend the Two Doctors (which brings back Patrick Troughton for the last time) as opposed to Revelation is quite funny, but still awesome! The only SOntaran episode I really [/b]really[/b] liked. Troughton with baker worked so well! Veengance on Varos has gone down in the books as a clasic too! Annother darker episode. Yet again if you favour the Eccleston era, this may appeal to you. Also if you an stomach it, try the fourteen part epic "The trial of a Timelord" it's basically a large story arc with mini stories inside. The final two episodes The Ultimate Foe" are the best. The Valeyard is amazing in this, infact I'd love him back one day!

                            Seventh Doctor (Sylvestor McCoy):
                            Rememberance of the Daleks - Not seen many of Sylvestors too, although unlike Hatnel and Pertwee, I am am a fan of him. But Rememberance is a soild story and marks the last time th Daleks were in Doctor Who until 2006's "Dalek" (which is awesome!). Survival is also a good one, which is the last clasic episode ever and features the Master. Weird Cat people in that though, They're still cooler than those stupid cat nuns in that Tennant episode though.

                            Eigth Doctor (Paul McGann):
                            The Movie - Well he only did one episode as this piolot was never picked up, but it is an awesome episode! It did well here in the UK and would have gotten oikced up, but unfortunetley American rating were pretty low (they made alot of it).

                            • Wow that's a lot of info lol. Thanks. I actually like the Ponds. I think Rory is adorable. I would say thus far that Tennant is my favorite. I loved Eccleston's facial expressions and that big goofy grin he always had.

                              I plan on eventually going back and seeing the older series. I have seen like maybe 3 of them but dig them as well.

                              I want to make a TARDIS closet for my bedroom.

                              • lol, yeah. Dr. Who's sort of my specialty, I have pretty much encyclopidiolic knowllage about dr. who. Meh, I hated them. they were boring. Rorry was okay, but he'd have worke better as a background character who goes on a few adeventures maybe like Wilf or Mickey. Amy was just annying, especially in that pirate episode. I had a feeling you'd fine him cute. High five! Tennant's my favourite too! He was my doctor really. If Eccleston styed for annother series or two, he might have taken the top spot, same with McGann, but I don't feel I had enough time to jel with them like I did Tennant. Yeah, I think that was inspired by Tom Baker. Simular grin.

                                Well good luck, just hope you find the right episodes. Which three did you see (if you remember)

                                Cool. I remember when I was a kid I had a life size giant inflatable dalek in the corner of my room. Drove my mum mental, eventually when I grew up a bit (abotu three or fur years agao. ), we decided to pack it away. I had the gold one, but it was the only one in stock I wanted the red or silver one realy.

                                Any favourite episodes?
