Also, I should point out that a Google search tells you nothing at this point about whether you were first. How do I know? Because YOURS doesn't seem to show up on a Google search, either. If yours doesn't show up, then for all you know there could be dozens of other ones that aren't showing up on a Google search either.

I guess it is hard really. Plus Smith's costume really doesn't suit Capaldi, so that's why it looks odd. Maybe if I did him in just a normal suit.....

But I tried to do that hair best I could, match the eye colour. Even tried to change the facial shape, but that was a nightmare.

But I know this awesome micro maker who could probably capture the likeliness better than I did. Note he's been making them for many years more than me though.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying it's a bad micro. It isn't. I'm just saying that claims to it being the first are far from certain, and it doesn't really bear much of a resemblance to the specific actor. I don't doubt that once you've got a whole established costume to work with, your product will be instantly recognizable as the 12th Doctor, but as of now, I don't see it as being all that remarkable.

Imagine the mcro without the costume, maybe imagine it in a blue suit and black shirt, or just focus on the head for a moment. Eventually, you get used to it.

It's okay dude, I understand. If I did a micro of Smith in Tennant's suit, you wouldn't instantly be able to recognise it, but if I then showed you my DT and MS micros in their right costumes, you probably would.

I can't say the thought never crossed my mind, but I really just don't have the time to devote to it. I mean, I figure with all the people already making them, it would almost always be easier (and faster ) for me to find something somebody else did, so I wouldn't bother unless I thought I could take the time to do a bang-up job.

Ah right. I started by taking other peoples micros and adding changes to them (although a lot of people frown down on this), but eventually in short time, I got the hang of it.

Also, here's an older 11th doctor micro. I did a new one, but I feel my new style didn't do Matt Smiths face justice as well for some reason.

Y'know, it's funny, I can't really tell, scrolling back and forth, what (if anything) is different about the faces, and yet I still feel like the first one looks more like the actor. Is there a difference in the faces, or are my eyes playing tricks on me?

Different shading. It looks very different. Here, compare these two, the face on the first one is the same as on the earlier one I just posted.

Yeah, side by side the difference is obvious. The shading on the second makes the face look flatter.

Yeah. That's the problem. With Micro A, I used a technique called pillow shading. Works wonders on faces, but on the bottom of the coat, it looks awful. Then on micro B, I used a flatter tone and it worked better on the clothes, but so much worse on the face.

Nowadays, I use a little bit of a mix of the two. Take a look at my 12th doctor, you can tell the face and hair is a sensible mix of the two (all the clothes are just taken from the 11th doctor micro)
