... now... as for my favorite...

Claymore, Tokyo 2040, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, and Gundam 00 all come pretty close... but my favorite anime, without a doubt, is:

    FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST

In all honesty I had practically stopped watching anime when I got talked into watching the first two episodes of this series way back when, and in reality, I only did so to get my friend to shut the hell up… but after watching those two episodes, I only wanted to see more. Unfortunately, Adult Swim had finished airing it, and it was pretty much only on every once in a while… so I did the only other thing I could think of in order to see this series. I bought it.

As I watched the show I really came to enjoy it more and more. The characters were well situated, none of them seeming forced like can happen often in anime. The action was better than most anime I could remember in recent history. But above all else, the story line and the fact that it was an alternate reality to our own (which eventually gets broken into in the movie), was all just so fascinating to me. I completed the series and promptly sought out the movie, because anyone who has seen the series knows you can’t just end with how the series ends. After viewing the film, I didn’t quite feel complete, but I thought it was a nice end... of course, I wanted more. Luckily, now we have Brotherhood coming about slowly for American audiences, but I've personally optedto wait until its been released in whole before I watch it, as I have a really hard time waiting.

That all said, I still love to rewatch the original series. It was the first anime in a long time I was able to rewatch. And I enjoyed it even more the second time through (and the third, and the fourth). It actually revitalized my interest in anime, which has again been a part of my life for a few years now, and is truly held as my favorite. I have yet to see another anime that can take this away from it… though I have recently seen some that almost achieved that (Claymore and Gundam 00)… though given the fact that I had almost entirely lost my interest in anime, and this threw me back into the mix, I highly doubt anything will be able to take its place as my favorite for a very long time… if ever.

I've watched a few anime(s) in my time. Never have been able to get into it fully.

    Dragonball-Z (Frieza Saga)
    Trigun
    Metropolis

Of all the anime I've seen in my life (of the three), Metropolis is hands down my favorite. I love that movie, it is a pretty faithful rendition of the original Metropolis film.

Yeah, Metropolis was pretty good... I used to own it a long time ago... but when I fell out of anime a few years back, I had begun to give and/or sell away stuff to friends or family who wanted it... that was one of the first to go, as I recall. Only about a fourth of my current collection was retained from my old collection... and my old collection was probably around the same size as my current collection (if not bigger, though it was mostly made up of VHS tapes, rather than DVDs... which everything I have now is DVD).

My two favourite animes are Tengen toppa Gurren Lagan and Black Lagoon.

One has freaking giant robots (really big) and the other is about a team of mercenaries including a psychoppatic woman called Revy.

Escaflowne is cool, especially because we can see one of the bad guys competently terrified of the the good guy after he slaughters all of his team.

I swear... this board's obsession with merging everything that seems to be fairly similar topics has gotten WAAAY out of hand.

For example: we don't need a WB's DCE thread... give each movie its own thread, I say! I mean, what if I want to know about Batman 3 and NO OTHER DCE PROJECTS? Why should I have to ruffle through a hundred posts of shit I don't care about to find one that gives me a glimmer of a hint of information about something I do? IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE!

NOT ALL THREADS NEED TO BE ALL ENCOMPASSING HUGE ASS FUCKING THREADS WITH A MILLION DISCUSSIONS PULLING EVERY EACH WAY!

I have far too many Anime DVD's to list. I will say that my favorite stand-alone is Ninja Scroll. Everything is a series these days where you have to buy 20 discs to complete the story. There are not enough good 1 and done stand-alones.

I wouldnt say that; Dagger of Kamui was frickin' PHENOMENAL but it wasnt something that got much in the way of big press.

Spriggan had some of its manga brought over here and got retitled Striker by Viz, but since manga wasnt as visible like it is *now*, it didnt attract enough of a following for them to do much beyond releasing a small number of its total print run (damn shame too cuz the story was pretty kewl.)

theres PLENTY of stand-alone movies done, the only prob is yur waiting for them to be dubbed & released over here........

U *might* have more success if U were to open yur eyes toward digital fansubs Id recommend Crayon Shin-chan: The Adult Empire Strikes Back if yur in the mood for comedy, Dagger of Kamui, Crusher Joe or Spriggan to whet yur kick-butt whistle, or City Hunter, TMP or Riding Bean for a decent mix (ya might have probs getting that last 1 tho.)

I use to watch alot of anime when I was younger, but I've lost touched with the genre. And when I was younger, anime was as easy accessible as it is now because it was more of a niche market and Manga was just starting out. I use to have to travel to Japantown to find videotapes and whatnot.

During my trip to Japan, I found this place called Mandrake in Shibuya. It's literally an underground anime shop.

It's about the same size as a small library with isles and isles of anime from DBZ to Hentai. If you're looking for some great anime, Shibuya is the place to be.
