New job postings at MTV Networks Careers website and from the Animation Guild have revealed that a new Avatar the Last Airbender television project is currently staffing up for production, with open postings for Storyboard Artists, Revisionists, and Supervisors; Prop and Character Designers; and a Live-Action/Animation Reference Coordinator. Nickelodeon has confirmed that the project is in production, adding that series co-creators Mike DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are involved and that more information will be forthcoming at a later date.

I'm thinking it's a retelling of the series or they're picking up some time after the conclusion.

book 4 would be nice, or even a "10 years later" could be nice. it did wonders for Dragon Ball

I don't expect a new seasons worth of stuff (aka Book 4). I'm expecting maybe a 40min episode that shows us what Aang & the gang are all doing. But I'd love for them to start fresh with new characters from where we left off. Maybe a young airbender as the star, that way you could legitimately call it "Book 4: Air"

                        Avatar: The Legend of Korra

A spinoff from Nickelodeon's "Avatar: The Last Airbender" is in the works.

The channel said Wednesday the new animated TV series will premiere in 2011. It has the working title, "The Legend of Korra."

Nickelodeon says the series will build on the "mythology" of the original "The Last Airbender" series, which inspired this summer's live-action movie from filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan (SHAH-muh-lahn).

The "Legend of Korra" is from the creator-producers of "Avatar: The Last Airbender."

Nickelodeon executive Brown Johnson says the new series will focus on a teenage girl avatar named Korra. Brown describes her as hotheaded, independent and "ready to take on the world."
                        http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100721/...egend_of_korra

Nickelodeon said in a release that “The Legend of Korra takes place 70 years after the events of ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ and follows the adventures of the Avatar after Aang – a passionate, rebellious, and fearless teenaged girl from the Southern Water Tribe named Korra.”

Korra’s quest eventually leads her to Republic City–the epicenter of the world of “Avatar.” A metropolis powered by steampunk-type technology, the city is inhabited by people from all nations. Korra finds that Republic City suffers from rampant crime and is also dealing with an anti-bender revolt. Korra is tutored by Aang’s son, Tenzin, is the ways of airbending.

Just cause Aang's dead doesn't mean OTHER characters won't be alive. It's only 70 years. Just look at Bumi.

But it doesn't mean they WILL be alive.
