  • They're coming for our families. There's a brand new anti-gay group based in France called "Manif Pour Tous." They want to stop marriage equality. They want to take children away from lesbian and gay couples. They believe the only valid families are married, different-sex couples with children.

Backed by anti-gay activists in the US and Europe, they've already gotten hundreds of thousands of people in the streets of France against equality for families:

And, they're spreading. Already, there are offshoots with thousands in the UK, Italy, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, the USA, Australia and more.

Just a few weeks ago, more than 260,000 of us signed a petition asking French politicians to take a stand for all families. On the same day as the anti-gay protest in Paris, we held a huge family reunion at the Place de la République. We showed that the only thing that matters in family is love:

The fight's not over. Already the Manif Pour Tous is planning new events across France. Will you sign now to tell world leaders to publicly oppose the Manif pour tous and stand up for ALL families?

    https://www.allout.org/family-equality

The Manif Pour Tous are trying to claim that gay and lesbian couples are dangerous people who see children "as objects" and that they want to "create orphans." These vicious messages are spreading quickly across Europe and taking up huge space in the media.

If enough of us sign, we can show leaders this isn't just French national policy at stake, but a global battle. Whether our family is made up of lesbian, gay, bi or trans people or whether we're a family that supports the rights of others, we are the faces and stories that can change hearts and minds. But we need to make sure groups like Manif Pour Tous don't win the battle to make us invisible.

If you believe in equality for ALL families, please sign here: https://www.allout.org/family-equality

We're 2 million All Out members around the world, representing every kind of family out there. Time and time again we've come together for family equality – signing to support marriage equality in France and Australia, sharing the stories of Brazil's 'Equality Moms' and defending the rights of families with same-sex parents and children to move freely in Europe without fear of being forcibly separated. Now's our chance to stand up to the group that's trying to roll all that back.

    Sign now: https://www.allout.org/family-equality

Thank you for going All Out,

Andre, Guillaume, Gaelle, Jeremy, Leandro, Sara and the rest of the All Out team.

P.S. Here's some of the people that Manif Pour Tous think shouldn't be a family:

"Our family. Neither better nor worse than another. Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity for all. Because ultimately we represent only one community: The Republic." Stephane and Loïc

"We are a family of 2: 2 women and 2 small children who are 2 and 4 years old. She teaches them about the Black Panthers, Catwoman and Nietzche, I make them cakes and potatoes au gratin." Valerie and Charlotte

"Diverse and blended: 4 countries, 3 languages, 2 people. Love crosses borders and brings hearts together."

        • An anti-gay wave is sweeping across Europe: in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Slovakia, Croatia, Latvia anti-gay groups are popping up and spreading hate.

They're slowly winning: they’re rallying politicians to strike down marriage equality and marching to take children away from gay parents. They're pushing anti-gay propaganda laws, just like in Russia. They've even got the support of American religious extremists.

But we’ve got a plan to counter these anti-gay groups. We’re going to hit them on every front, isolating their networks and exposing their extreme religious backing. We can stop them from reaching even more vulnerable countries.

If 6,000 of us chip in by October 31, we can ignite this plan. We could create powerful new campaigns in all these countries to stop the anti-gay movement. Together, we can make sure love always wins.

Will you join the fight? https://www.allout.org/stop_hate

Europe was once at the front of gay rights, with marriage equality passing in country after country. But now the anti-gay movement is fighting back and going further. So here's how we can stop them in their tracks:

          1) Expose their lies: Each time they push their anti-gay agenda, we need to be there on TV, online and on the radio telling the truth and giving a voice to the families they're trying to break up.
          2) Cut them off from their international network: These groups have been working closely with American anti-gay evangelicals. We can help expose these links and show the public they're a hateful movement powered by foreign religious extremism.
          3) Get leaders fighting for love: Together, we could get politicians, religious leaders and celebrities to take a stand and fight with us against these dangerous groups. We'll leave these groups alone and friendless.
          4) Rally everyone who believes in love and equality: Millions of people don't want to destroy loving families. All Out can give them a way of working together online and in the streets. We can make this group look extreme and out of touch.

To launch this ambitious plan, we need just 6,000 of us to join together and make a small donation. All Out's small and nimble office team can make every dollar go a long way.

Please donate now to protect ALL families: https://www.allout.org/stop_hate

All Out members have been fighting anti-gay hate around the world. When Russia started implementing its anti-gay propaganda law, All Out members joined together. 1 million of us signed petitions thousands of us took to the streets in 30 cities and hundreds of us donated to fight this terrible law. We pushed leaders of countries with big economic links with Russia to speak out.

We created a media storm during the winter Olympics in Sochi. We supported our partners in Russia and organized media stunts all over the world. Last month, we even got the International Olympic Committee to make host countries abide by human rights standards, including protecting gay, lesbian, bi and trans citizens. This is what happens when we join together.

There's less than a week – please donate now to make sure love wins in Europe:
          https://www.allout.org/stop_hate

          Thanks for going All Out,

Andre, Jeremy, Guillaume, Gaëlle, Oscar, Sara and the rest of the team at All Out.

PS. 5.7 million dollars. That’s how much a dangerous anti-gay group in France raised in just a year. Now they're spreading all over the world. They're fighting marriage equality and attacking gay families. But now we have chance to fight back. If each of us makes a small donation, we can fund a huge plan to fight them on every front. Reagan Aide Wants The South To Secede And Form Anti-Gay 'Reagan' Nation

A former aide to President Ronald Reagan is calling for southern states to secede from the union and form a new conservative nation called "Reagan" where citizens wouldn't be forced to compromise on "traditional values" like marriage.

Right Wing Watch on Wednesday flagged conservative author Douglas MacKinnon's interview with evangelical radio host Janet Mefferd, in which he hocked his new book, "The Secessionist States of America: The Blueprint for Creating a Traditional Values Country … Now." Cautioning that all his secession talk was purely "academic," MacKinnon suggested that South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida break away from the United States and form a new republic named "Reagan."

"You have to remember that all 11 states from the South, including ultimately Texas, seceded legally," MacKinnon told Mefferd. "They left the union peacefully, they left the union legally, and then President Lincoln … part of the problem there was that the North realized very quickly that it could not survive economically without the power of the South."

After making the legal case for secession — and branding the Civil War "illegal" to boot — MacKinnon argued that the leaders Americans are electing today do not represent traditional values, particularly when it comes to marriage.

"If you happen to make a donation in favor of traditional marriage, you can lose your job," he told Mefferd. "If you happen to refuse to bake a cake for a gay couple because it goes against your religious beliefs, you can be driven out of business. If you're a football commentator and you happen to just say, innocently, that you know maybe I wouldn't have drafted a gay football player because I wouldn't want to deal with the distraction, many people on the left will try to drive you out of your job as well."

"The world has been turned upside down if you do happen to believe in traditional values," MacKinnon added. "I think there's a core group in the United States of America that's anywhere from 30 to 50 to 80 million Americans that strongly believe in traditional values. Unfortunately, as we know too, much of the mainstream media has been hijacked by the left and so it's very difficult to get our message out."

Interestingly, MacKinnon left the state with the strongest history of secessionist sentiment out of his thought experiment.

"I'm a huge fan of Texas ... but you know, if in fact, you tried to do something like that, then would the government of Mexico look at Texas in sort of a more hostile manner than it already does now," he explained. "There have certainly been a number of incursions into Texas and other places from some of the folks in Mexico."

            • TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL ELECTS GAY HOMECOMING QUEEN AND THE WORLD ISN'T ENTIRELY TERRIBLE TODAY

Texas teens are officially giving us more hope than Texas lawmakers: April Swartz-Larson, a 17-year-old lesbian student, was crowned homecoming queen at McKinney High School in McKinney, Texas. Why is this a big deal? To quote the queen herself, “I’m not the typical choice for homecoming queen at all. I’m gay, first of all, and I’m gay…living in McKinney.” She accepted the honors in a tuxedo with a purple shirt and turquoise bow tie, with an “I’m Not Screwing Around Here” style pompadour. In short, she looked badass. The way the crowd of students exploded into cheers upon announcement of her winning? The most badass. If you didn’t tear up a bit, you’re a little dead inside.

When she was announced as homecoming queen, everyone cheered, but people weren’t always so accepting of Swartz-Larson. “They were weirded out by it and (for) some of them there was hate behind it”, the dark horse said. She recalls, “It was pretty hard when I first came out. Everyone’s kind of grown up a little bit, and they’ve seen I’m the same person.”

In fact, her parents were initially concerned by her nomination. Her dad says, “First, I was nervous because I was afraid someone was playing a joke on her.” Thankfully, it was not a nightmare Carrie situation. (By the way, I still don’t get why all the kids hated Carrie. She had great style. You know, before she was covered in pigs’ blood. Aside from that, she was one eyebrow pencil away from being an ANTM contestant.)

I went to a small all-girls high school, so I never experienced the homecoming queen thing, as a participant or otherwise. There are quite a few “big high school moments” that I sort of missed because of this, and yet, even I can appreciate this story. You know how some stories make you weep for humanity? This makes me do the opposite. You go, April Swartz-Larson. And you go, McKinney students.

High fives for everyone involved, especially her friend, Emilee Swim, who nominated Swartz-Larson, because, “she’s the kindest person I know.” Here they are posing together before the Big Night:

Swim lead a campaign for her friend that involved colorful fliers posted around the school, and pro-April tweets on Twitter. Many students picked up on the tweets, sometimes adding “#VoteForApril” – the campaign took off from there.

You can follow Swartz-Larson on Twitter, where she asks the very important question: “I made the news, so I can wear my eyebrow ring to school now, right?”

Police Department Ruthlessly Bullied, Harassed, Then Fired Officer Because He Was Gay

A former police officer has just filed a discrimination lawsuit against the borough of Glen Rock and their Police Department. Matthew Stanislao alleges that his former department ruthlessly bullied him and finally unjustly fired him due to his sexual orientation.

Stanislao’s suit alleges that several specific officers sexually harassed him for being homosexual, during the time he was employed there. He also notes that it was a daily occurrence for another officer not named in the suit to make a lewd gesture behind him every time he walked by.

On October 16th, Stanislao finally received a letter from the borough, stating that his employment was terminated. He took his case to the state Superior Court a week later, on October 23rd.

Stanislao’s attorneys, Charles Sciarra and Matthew Curran, released a statement about the case, saying that “by proving his claims, we intend to reverse the attacks against Matthew Stanislao, who has been consistently focused on doing a job he loves and serving the public.”

Glen Rock Police Chief Fred Stahman and Mayor John Van Keuren both refused any requests for comment on this case.

The suit says that “crude, vulgar and derogatory comments” about his sexuality were frequently made in front of him, often by his superior officers.

Stanislao notes that his superiors would not let him work with children in outreach programs, and he was never recognized for his meritorious service, including the heroic rescue of two people from a submerged vehicle.

The suit finally alleges that the “defendants’ conduct was severe and pervasive enough to make a reasonable gay man believe that the conditions of employment were altered and the working environment was hostile or abusive.”
