  • History Of The Power Rangers

Linkara who runs Atop The Fourth Wall has under taken a project to do recaps and reviews of each season of Power Rangers produced to date. As such his "History Of The Power Rangers" has been posted both on his site as well as on the That Guy With Glasses site. So far he has covered Mighty Morphin Power Rangers up to Time Force which was posted yesterday.

I can't post the vids as their not posted on youtube but here is the link to the full list of currently posted vids. History Of The Power Rangers

I recommend that any Power Rangers fan past or present check these out. Watching them I remembered why I use to love Power Rangers and can chuckle at some of the sillier bits in the series. His reviews are very analytical and sometimes quiet funny.

I never got into Power Rangers (I was too old by the time they became popular), but that's most impressive.

I watched the first few seasons of the Rangers. I didn't care for them constantly changing the cast members every other season. After the 4th year, I lost interest.

watching those reminded me of why I thought the show was so awesome when I was 8. And how incredibly stupid the show actually was.

Let's just say it hasn't aged well.

Yeah generally there is about a month between his season review postings. In Space was the last series he had watched when he was young so the rest are unfamiliar to him and he has to sit though every episode to see which were filler and which were important. Again though I still find these reviews kinda awesome and I'm noticing now things he's pointing out, Like Bulk ad Skull's development though the series that I hadn't really noticed before.

I liked Power Rangers, because I thought of it as sort of a live action Voltron. Tommy, the Green Ranger was my favorite because he had the Judd Nelson (from the Breakfast Club) edge to him. I would have preferred him staying a bad guy and then ultimately defeating all the Power Rangers.

I watched up until Turbo, after they added the kid I said, "This is dumb," and stopped watching.

Yeah, neither did I. I learned a lot about Lost Galaxy and Lightspeed Rescue, two series that I always thought were pretty stupid.

Biggest issue I have with Power Rangers over all and I have had this since the beginning. Is that they never really touch on death in a meaningful way. Yeah you could say in Lost Galaxy we had a death as one of the rangers died. However in the final episode that is negated with her just magically coming back to life. Seriously we have a group of heroes who are on a weekly basis killing Aliens yet at no time do we see this fact effecting the characters. It's the most unrealistic aspect of Power Rangers there is. Especially since many of the teams are supposed to be Teenagers.

Here's my history of the Power Rangers.

In the beginning... they sucked but it was a show for kids so it was kind of cute.
Then... it continued to suck but the fact that the name was so outrageous helped it become something of a "pop culture reference" phenomenon. Plus one out of every ten kids was a Power Ranger for Halloween for like five years. But the show sucked ass.

Then they made a sucky movie.

Then the topless photos of the Pink Ranger came out. That didn't suck. But the show still did.

Then they made some more different sucky versions of the show.
                            Then even more sucky versions.
                            More sucking.
                            More sucking.
And now in the modern era.... The Power Rangers still sucks ass and is for children or retarded adults who like things made for children.

                            The End

                            Fuck the Power Rangers
