It could have been better, it could have been worse. With a solid script, Snyder shouldn't let us down.

Besides, this frees up Aronofsky to do Preacher.

Chris Nolan is part of the production team as well... I'm cautiously optimistic.

As for Superman Returns... it might have worked as a graphic novel in an elseworlds tale or something... but as a movie it was not good.

        Fuck, not Superman...

Last film sucked ass. Not even Kevin Spacey as Luthor could save it.

Maybe he means Superman will be wearing a leather Speedo and bare-skinning the rest.

Oh, Snyder could easily let us down, but it couldn't really be as bad as the last one, could it?

Anyway, yes, Preacher is what I care about.

Snyder is known for sticking to the source material. I have faith we will see a traditional costume for Supes.

What if this is his source material?

I'm thrilled by this. Excellent choice. This isn't going to disappoint.

If you keep your expectations dirt low, I suppose.

To me Snyder is probably the perfect choice of an active, working director today to direct exactly the kind of Superman movie that Superman desperately needs right now -- high action, high concept, and guns blazing. He's not some Paul "Worthless Shit" Anderson hack director, he's proven he can do action and make it theatrically exciting, and moreover he's proven himself to me back-to-back with the Dawn of the Dead remake (a film I wanted to hate but had no choice but to admire), 300, and Watchmen.

Nolan and Goyer is his corner is a tremendous boon HOWEVER... Nolan's involvement seems both a blessing and cause for concern as I see it. I really hope Nolan was able to divorce himself from his usual take on larger-than-life fare in his overall story for Superman he passed along to Goyer to develop... because literally every movie he's done, Nolan goes to great pains to anchor everything to reality, to make sure everything we see has some real world bearing and isn't fantastical. This approach would be fine in other movies, even great, especially like Batman and such where we're talking about a normal guy.

The problem with Superman, however, is... Superman should be fantastical. I want to see Warworld and/or Apokolips descending down on Earth deploying shock troops and Superman really having to bring it all-out to stop a fearsome menace, punching out villains above the clouds and heat-visioning motherfuckers left and right before going toe-to-toe with a galaxy-level equal like Mongul or Darkseid... and I just don't imagine Nolan ever in his right mind signing off on a movie even remotely like that.

                          I hope I'm wrong.

Should be interesting to see a goyer script with both snyder and nolan takes on it. I will definitely go see it. I mean, it should be one hell of a movie if they cast it well.
