SEBRING - Court records state that the 68-year-old Sebring woman charged with killing her 62-year-old husband used chemicals, tape and a plastic bag to murder him.

Ruth Musial will be formally arraigned on March 29.

Gerald Musial's body was found inside the couple's Tanglewood home, located at 1010 Carefree Parkway, on the afternoon of Feb. 26.

Deputies forced their way into the home after attempts to contact the Musials were unsuccessful. The victim's body was found in a bathroom located inside the master bedroom, the records stated.

Towels were found in the gap between the bedroom's door and the floor. Two letters were also attached to the door, with one addressed to "whom it may concern," according to the court records.

The letter reportedly gave a detailed account and time frame of the murder, stating that Ruth Musial put a large dose of the drug Clonazepam – used to control seizures and treat panic disorders – into her husband's food without his knowledge.

The medication "incapacitated" Gerald Musical and the suspect taped his hands and feet together, the records stated. When the victim tried to defend himself, Ruth Musial allegedly put a plastic bag over his head and killed him.

One of the letters stated, "I have absolutely no remorse or sorrow for what I have done," according to the court file. The second letter reportedly started out by saying, "Here lies the remains of a man who didn't know how good he had it."

It allegedly ended with, "good riddance Jerry!!!"

Ruth Musial was taken to Tampa General Hospital for treatment of what investigators categorized as apparent self-inflicted injuries. She has since been charged with first-degree murder and remained in the Highlands County Jail Friday under no bond.

The suspect's daughter reportedly called the Highlands County Sheriff's Office after receiving a FedEx package that included a letter stating her mother was going to murder her husband and then hurt herself, according to court records.

Ruth Musial was a former part-time receptionist of Highlands Today. Autopsy results for Gerald Musial are pending toxicology results.

Lt. Tim Lethbridge, with the Highlands County Sheriff's Office, previously said he'd requested the state Medical Examiner's Office to expedite those results.

To treat our loved ones with kindness and respect ...

          Was there ever any remorse?

According to detective Neale, there was none whatsoever.

"The only time that she ever indicated that she had any remorse was that she stated that she wished she would have found a different way to kill Gerald instead of asphyxiation," Neale said.

That article didn't really make it clear, do we have some kind of confirmation that her story is accurate? That she isn't just mentally ill? The only quotes I saw from people who knew the couple didn't indicate that anybody else KNEW that this was an abusive relationship. Now that isn't at all unusual if there IS abuse, but part of me has to retain some questions until we hear independent evidence of her husband's mistreatment of her. I just remember Phil Hartman being killed by HIS wife, even though there all evidence was that he was a good husband, and she was just mentally ill.

i haven't been able to find the letters published online like they were in the paper, and am too lazy to type them up ... she's off her rockers ... there's no doubt about it, but she was pretty specific in the descriptions of abuse, so there's a large part of me that wants to believe her hubby was a real loser ... for example ...

"He pleaded to let him go, he would be the perfect husband from then on."

"He was a beautiful shade of blue."

"HERE LIES THE REMAINS OF A MAN WHO DIDN'T KNOW HOW GOOD HE HAD IT. HE LIED CHEATED, EMOTIONALLY ABUSED, AND TREATED ME AS THOUGH I WERE NOTHING FOR 34 YEARS. HE THOUGHT I WAS STUPID, AND TRIED TO CONVINCE ME I WAS 'LOSING IT' WHEN I KNOW I WAS AS SANE AS ANYONE ELSE UNTIL HE FINALLY DROVE ME TO THIS.

                    GOOD RIDDANCE JERRY!!!"
