Which was always nonsense. If the best minds at MIT can't come up with anything remotely like web shooters or invent material remotely like web material, then how are we supposed to buy that Peter Parker would? At least if they're organic you can chalk it up to part of the mutation or whatever.

I liked the Ultimate Spider-Man explanation, where Pete's scientist father had been working on a formula for an industrial adhesive or whatever before his death. Once Peter got his powers and costume, he put the finishing touches on that formula. It was a great way of showcasing Pete's science nerd qualities, but his dad did all of the heavy lifting.

This better not be a re-telling of his origin story, because if it is Im missing this movie and waiting for a sequel.

I fully agree. IF they have to do his origin again, make it a 10 minute scene set "one year ago" or something like that, so we can get it over with and join up with Spidey after the whole "I need to figure out my powers" junk.

That is EXACTLY how I always felt about it, when I would hear people complain about how they should be separate web-shooters. Frankly, I think somebody getting superpowers from a spider bite is actually slightly MORE believable than a kid concocting such an amazing advancement in materials science, one that anybody with one QUARTER of a brain would realize was worth MILLIONS, if not BILLIONS, of dollars, at home in his room. And that he wouldn't TRY to patent it and market it, given all the troubles Peter and his Aunt always seem to have. Money doesn't solve everything, but it sure helps with a lot of stuff.

I can tell you this, if the Marvel Universe is ANYTHING like ours, the first time Spidey left any of that webbing laying around, corporations would descend on it, analyze it, and try to duplicate it. It would be just THAT useful.

The organic web shooters aren't the genius thing he created, While elaborate it is no more different than those things that spray silly string our of an aerosol can or at least similar. The genius thing was the webbing fluid that he created and anybody who managed to get some would have only 1 hour to analyze it because it dissolves in an hour hence why nobody has done it yet at least to my knowledge.

I know the shooters aren't the genius thing (though seeing some of the stuff they can do, I'd argue they ARE pretty genius, if only for the sheer DISTANCE they can propel the stuff). The material is what I'm thinking of. THAT would be worth a fortune, though I admit, I wasn't aware it dissolved in an hour. Guess when he wraps up bad guys with it, he better call the cops pretty quick, since they would be free long before the cops would just HAPPEN upon them in many cases.

Do you know if the dissolving thing is intentional, or an unintended limitation? Because if it was inherently unstable, and COULDN'T last more than an hour, that might severely limit its market value (though I expect the military and law enforcement would still be very interested).

The ability to quickly concoct a substance that behaves like scaled-up spider silk without the services of a high-tech lab is the ludicrously unlikely bit. Compared to that, the shooters themselves are probably childs-play.

Wow, that costume is ugly. The first shot didn't look too bad, but this is horrendous. Everything about this reboot is bad. I won't waste my time or money on going to see this at all. I'll MAYBE get it on Netflix sometime next year just to check it out. They should have done a Spidey 4 and worked their asses off making it better and redeeming Spidey 3.
