There are also other techniques. BNW includes using drugs on people who don't think like everybody else thinks.
I meant that the premise of the 1984 is flawed from the get go. The society we should be so afraid oh, started after a devastating war. There´s too much variabales thing that could stop that.

The only flaw is the assumption that so much could be brought under that sort of control in so short a time. The general premise isn't so hard to believe, considering the very large difference in acceptable government micromanagement now vs when I was a child. A lot has changed in the three short decades I've been alive.
Now you'd never call Erwin a "Wussy"
Nor label his working day "cushy"
But you might have to question
His endless obsession
With superpositional pussy.

I did an university paper about the book for my class of State Theories. And I pointed that out. I merely said the premise relies on the society after WWIII (or whatever major war happen).

Probably. I find it more interesting that elements seem quite possible. Newspeak, seems to me, like a very real threat, it's just not necessarily state-controlled (in our society, anyway; you could make comparisons to China's use of limiting search engine hits). In English, although technical words and pseudo-internet words are added all the time, the complexity of sentence structure and the use of synonyms is decreasing.
I remember one of my professors saying Brave New World was much more likely than 1984. There, it is not a despotic, single dictator that controls all so much as popular consent suppresses individuality (via drugs, media, and government). In American democracy, the oppression of the masses (which even Thomas Jefferson feared) seems much more likely (Jim Crow laws; McCarthyism, whatever).
