I remember the MotU ending from when it came it. It was the first I remember (later saw the Ferris Bueller one). I thought it was pretty famous.

Post credit scenes are so fucking stupid. Just show the scenes right before the credits or midway through them. Why make people sit there and wait?

I'm all for mid-credits scenes. If you can't bother to stick around for the main credits (actors, director, other positions that are major enough to actually win specific awards) then you deserve to miss the extra scene. But, yeah, not a big fan of having to wait until after the list of "production babies", the assurance that no animals were harmed, and the "any resemblance is purely coincidental" disclaimer, etc., etc.

But I'll usually do it, anyway, if I know there's something there AND I liked the movie. If I didn't like the movie, I couldn't care less. It is pretty easy to check before going to the theater unless you are headed to the midnight showing on opening day.

Word of mouth and notoriety. People talking about it means it's relevant and the more idle chit-chat it gets, the more popular it will be. Just look at all the current superhero movies- Eveyone tells you, "Make sure you stay after the credits!" whether or not it's pertinent to the story.

What are you talking about? I'm saying I check (on the good old Internet) to see if there is something afterward. That way you only stick around when you KNOW there's something to see...

I think at one time (80s) it was a rare little nod like "hey you stuck around this long, here's a funny extra 30 seconds." Now, with credits longer than ever before it's an annoying and overused gimmick (rather like 3D).

Idiot that I am, I have yet to do this. I have, however, asked the guys and gals who work at the theater. They usually know.

So, I might see Transformer 3 tonight, do I have to watch the credits?
