Most of those shows do have some historical/educational value....more so than Ancient Aliens and Nostradamus.

Logging has huge historical value where I live, and the changes that we've made in our logging industry has resulted in the creation of more forestry today than existed 100 hundred years ago. That's pretty historically significant.

The ice roads might not mean much to you, where you live, but if you lived in a place whose habitation was made possible by the use of these ice roads its pretty fucking big. And the show actually covers the evolution of the ice road and the events that lead up to it.

But you might not see all that if you just glance at the surface of the show without actually watching it.

My brother is a huge fan of the show so i have seen more episodes than i should have, but you got a point that its History in the making, no doubt.
However i think those programs belong on their own Channel, history channel should be about the past and such if you ask me.
Or they could always make more history channels like discovery did, one for different types of shows: History reality, History Aliens etc
