It is a bad joke, but it's obviously a joke. If this is what gave him a four week hiatus, then they overreaccted in a major way.

My understanding and this is from what Lupa said last night the comment was supposed to have been a joke. Where he said to JO he wanted to "Kidnap her tie her up in his basement and love her his way a way that would end in tears". That last part being the implied rape remark.

Noah's always been an asshole. And I'm not watching "Noah Antwiler." I'm watching "TheSpoonyOne." If his videos get worse, stop watching his videos. If the quality remains the same, then don't. Christian Bale's an asshole, but he's a good actor and I watch his work. That's how it works.

Spoony has a few other issues to deal with. Turns out his website ThespoonyExperiment.com was hosted on TGWTG servers. So he is having to move his pages to a new hosting site. His videos are hosted on Blip.tv so those won't be affected by all this.

I want to be clear, I'm not saying other people shouldn't continue to watch his videos if they enjoy them. I do however want them to be aware of the kind of person Noah has become. Mentally he is in a bad place and its slowly getting worse. I can't support that in any way. So I am walking away from his work. I do hope he eventually gets better but I don't need the headache and heartache of seeing him self destruct.

Honestly, this move can't be good for TGWTG. I think they lose more fans by dropping Spoony than they would by keeping him. He was at least their #3 or #4 view-getter. I, myself, only watched his movie reviews. Really, the majority of my TGWTG experience is ToddInTheShadows, Nostalgia Chick, and Linkara (who I usually watch for the storylines, but I'll watch the full video if I've read the comic he's covering or care about it for another reason) or anything those three are in.

On the plus side, if your goal has been to join TGWTG, they've got quite a hole to fill with Spoony gone.

Also, congratulations to SadPanda, who is now on the front page. I suppose giving the slot to JO would've just been too ironic.

Where can I read the "rape" comment that started this all?
The site will not be the same without Doctor Insano.

I'm not entirely sure. It may have been over twitter but as I said it was nearly a month ago and may have been removed. I'll I do know is that JesuOtaku did make a complaint about to the That Guy site owners, after a investigation I assume Spoony was suspended for 4 weeks.

Lupa's blog post was made several hours before the suspension was announced. She was on LordKats stream last night on Twitch.tv for a while and it may be in his recorded highlights (along with nearly a hour or more of LordKat ranting about Spoony) where she explained that she wrote the post because Spoony had made other comments that she thought he needed to be called out on. After the blog post, and the suspension and Lupa's blog post things went really bad.

Spoony did, nearly a month later, and over twitter, Apologize to JO for the comment.

Now lets be clear on something, Lupa did not get Spoony kicked off of That Guy. The That Guy people are trying their best to claim that the "Rape Joke" had nothing to do with it but the timing of everything is just to coincidental to not be connected. The joke its self isn't the main reason, that I am sure, its his extremely bad public reputation gained over the last few weeks. He has been cussing at and in some cases making semi-threatening remarks to people who tweet him. So while the Joke may not have been the reason for it, but it was the seed that started the downward spiral that lead to it.

All things considered I don't have a personal issue with Noah. If nothing else I feel sorry for the guy. He has been suffering from depression for months. These events are just that manifesting its self along with his apparent lack of self control when it comes to the anger that depression can cause.

Anyway Ive watched quite a few of Spoony's vids, he's a pretty funny guy and his reviews are usually entertaining, I just had a look on his twitter and he seems to be getting fan support, so I dunno if he is putting every fan on blast.

I've seen one or two Lupa vids, shes alright but not as good as Spoony.

Tbh Ive been going to that site less and less each year, for me the big draws there were Critic,Spoony and Angry Joe, everyone else is kind of meh, I find better stuff on youtube.

Since Joe started his blistered thumbs site and other things I've been going directly there instead, now with Spoony gone theirs only the critic.

I can only see TGWTG traffic going down with this news.

Seems to be typical internet drama of name calling and back stabbing, I dont really follow these guys n gals around enough to care, If Spoony still puts out interesting vids, I'll be watching.

Okay this is a recap of events as I know them. Their as accurate as I have heard them from the first hand sources.

Around a month ago, Noah Antwiler aka The Spoony One from the web site http://www.ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.com and http://www.thespoonyexperiment.com made a very off color remark to JesuOtaku (also from the That Guy Site) which implied rape. Because of that and other remarks Spoony made that were highly inappropriate Spoony yesterday was suspended from the That Guy site for 4 weeks. Also yesterday Obscurus Lupa wrote a blog post concerning the whole situation. This apparently pissed Spoony off. He began ranting on twitter mostly at his fans. Over the last 24 hours he has become more and more belligerent and obscene towards people who were commenting on things he was saying.

Late this evening (night of this posting) the That Guy web site posted the following message.

After recent events, Noah "The Spoony One" Antwiler and Channel Awesome have decided to part ways. Noah has made it clear that he wishes to pursue a course that is different from our own. We feel that with these different aims, it is better for Noah to be free to pursue his own goals unhindered by us.

Noah has been an immense talent on the site and we thank him for his years of hard service, both in numerous episodes of The Spoony Experiment and in the Channel Awesome Anniversary films.

We sincerely wish him the best in all future endeavors, and hope he continues to put out great quality work.

Its kind of clear after all the extremely bad exposure Noah generated over this whole incident. That the owners of That Guy decided it was a better option to fire him instead of keeping him on and having to deal with his continuing spiral of self destruction.

Spoony's videos are still on his website but I assume they will be removed from the That Guy site.

I know you all are wondering why I posted this.

I supported Spoony's site and videos for the last couple of years. I felt sorry for him over the extreme depression he went into after a bad relationship break up. But given the sheer scope of cockmongler he has become in the last couple of weeks. The kind of jokes he apparently think are funny, and the fact that moments after the notification he was no longer with the site he began insulting the other That Guy producers via his twitter. I will personally no longer be watching his videos, or doing anything that supports his work.

Noah has serious mental issues. He admits that, I hope he gets all the help he needs and recovers to something amounting to normality. I however am not going to continue to watch this man spiral out of control.
