  • McCain is getting a lot of praise for refusing to dismantle Obamacare, but that's just one vote he cast in 31 years. Besides, I think he did that to screw Trump -- which is something Trump richly deserved.

The best thing that ever happened to McCain was not getting elected president. He'd have created a catastrophe in the Middle East vastly worse than the one Dubya created, and he'd be reviled for it now.

Unfortunately if you're with the Republicans, you're all in. No decent person can be a GOPer, especially since you're supporting such a party with such terrible policies and a lack of regard for anyone who isn't a rich white male, at least in the senate anyway. This included McCain sadly.

It depends on how you define decency or where the line to indecency begins. Personally, I don't think either party has represented decency in many, many years, but I don't want to elaborate because I hate talking politics with friends and hence stay out of Qward.

Yeah, I always liked his stuff and I've seen quite a few of the cinematic adaptations. Over the years, I've come across these without having heard the titles (e.g., I Ought to Be In Pictures), but when I find they're based on a Simon play they're always funny and poignant.

I don't want to get all political argumentative or anything, but there's a clear difference democrats and republicans. Democrats follow the law, and try to get things done. The GOP cheats, plays dirty, and hates anyone who isn't a rich white male. Plus I'd rather support a party that doesn't vote for bills to try and kill me.

It's no coincidence that the last three recessions have happened under Republican presidents. Democrats have to come in and fix the GOP mess, but voters have the memories of goldfishes, so it's back to square one immediately.

                  Hope that made sense.

Sometimes his scripts could be too much, but he always had a knack for dialogue and character. I think The Sunshine Boys is one of my favorite examples of his great talent for dialogue. "If I was there to enjoy it, I would buy a ticket."

The Republicans openly serve the one percent, and the Democrats are more more devious about it.

                      That's the difference.

I'd say the GOP supports the rich, and don't care breaking the law as long as they get rich. Democrats are flawed, but they support check and balances. There are huge differences between both parties if you look beyond the usual "surfaces".

                              • Barely an hour ago, right before I was leaving work, one of my coworkers hurried back into the building. She was visibly distraught and needed to see the chef to tell him that her grandmother had passed.

I don't know the details (wouldn't post them anyway, privacy is due), but I thought it only right to mention the loss of someone who meant the world to another.
