"On the morning of July 12, 2020, Kelly Preston, adored wife and mother, passed away following a two-year battle with breast cancer," a family representative tells PEOPLE exclusively.

Naya Rivera, the veteran actress and singer who was best known for her role as the straight-shooting Santana Lopez in Glee, has died. The Ventura County sheriff’s department declared Rivera missing on the late evening of July 8 after her 4-year-old son, Josey, was discovered alone on a boat on Lake Piru. Per Rolling Stone, Rivera’s body was recovered from the lake on Monday after a days-long search. She was 33 years old.

Grant Imahara, an electrical engineer and roboticist who hosted the popular science show MythBusters and Netflix's White Rabbit Project, has died. He was 49.

Imahara died suddenly, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. "We are heartbroken to hear this sad news about Grant. He was an important part of our Discovery family and a really wonderful man. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family," a representative for Discovery said in a statement on Monday.

Ronald Schwary, who won an Oscar as the producer of Ordinary People and whose other major film successes include A Soldier’s Story, Absence of Malice, Scent of a Woman and Tootsie, has died. He was 76. He passed away Thursday in West Hollywood, according to his sons.

Schwary had struggled with a rare neurological autonomic disorder and complications led to his death.

Author Joanna Cole, whose “Magic School Bus” books transported millions of young people on extraordinary and educational adventures, has died at age 75.

Scholastic announced that Cole, a resident of Sioux City, Iowa, died Sunday. The cause was idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

“Joanna Cole had the perfect touch for blending science and story,” Scholastic Chairman and CEO Dick Robinson said in a statement Wednesday. “Joanna's books, packed with equal parts humour and information, made science both easy to understand and fun for the hundreds of millions of children around the world who read her books and watched the award-winning television series.”

Actor Maurice Roeves - known for playing villains and hard men - has died at the age of 83.

In a career spanning six decades, he acted in hundreds of TV shows and films including The Sweeney, Star Trek, The Eagle Has Landed and Tutti Frutti.
