Sumner Redstone, a towering figure in media who built his father’s drive-in theater business into an empire that included Viacom, Paramount Pictures and CBS Corp., only to see his legacy tarnished in his final years by corporate battles and sordid allegations by former girlfriends, died Aug. 11 at his home in Los Angeles. He was 97.
National Amusements, the Redstone family’s private holding company that controls what is now ViacomCBS, confirmed that Redstone died Tuesday afternoon. After years of public battles with family members, Redstone had been in close contact over the past three years with his daughter, ViacomCBS chairman Shari Redstone, and others in his extended family.

The persistent COVID-19 pandemic has claimed a number of notable individuals in the entertainment industry over the last five months, and sadly news has now broken that yet another wonderful performer has died after contracting the virus. Trinidad "Trini" López III – who was best known as a singer, but also played the notable role of Pedro Jimenez in Robert Aldrich's The Dirty Dozen – has passed away at the age of 83.
Lopez was a resident of Palm Springs, California since the 1960s, and his passing was first reported earlier today by Palm Springs Life magazine. He was born in Texas as the son of Mexican immigrants, and began to play as part of a band when he was 15, both as a singer and a guitarist. In the late 1950s his group The Big Beats signed with Columbia Records, but he soon left to pursue a solo career.

Danish Grammy award-winning composer and pianist Bent Fabricius-Bjerre, known internationally as Bent Fabric, who had an international hit in 1962 with the tune “Alley Cat,” has died. He was 95.
His family confirmed that Fabricius-Bjerre died on Tuesday after fighting cancer.

Linda Manz, who as an androgynous teen captivated many with her performances in the films "Days of Heaven" and "Out of the Blue," died Friday at 58. The cause, according to extended family posting on social media, was pneumonia and lung cancer.

Robert Trump, 72, the younger brother of President Donald Trump, died Saturday at a New York hospital, Donald Trump announced in a statement.
"It is with heavy heart I share that my wonderful brother, Robert, peacefully passed away tonight. He was not just my brother, he was my best friend. He will be greatly missed, but we will meet again. His memory will live on in my heart forever. Robert, I love you. Rest in peace," the President said.
RIP to his family. Shame his brother is a monster.

We are sad to learn about the passing of John “Xavier” Jirius. He was 43-years-old. As of this writing his cause of death has not been made public.
Xavier, a former ROH Champion was born in New York City and he was trained by former ECW star Tony Devito. He broke into the indie wrestling scene and started working with Northeast Wrestling.

Ben Cross, the stage and film actor best known for his roles in Chariots of Fire and Star Trek, has died at the age of 72.
The actor’s family confirmed to Deadline that Cross died on Tuesday morning in Vienna, Austria.
His daughter Lauren shared the following announcement on Facebook: “I am utterly heartbroken to share with you that my darling father died a few hours ago.

Chi Chi DeVayne — the stage name of Zavion Davenport, an accomplished entertainer who competed on two seasons of RuPaul's Drag Race — has died at age 34, EW has confirmed.
News of the drag queen's passing came Thursday, less than a week after DeVayne informed her Instagram followers that she was back in the hospital.

Computer scientist Russell Kirsch, best known for inventing the pixel, passed away August 11 at his home in Portland, Oregon. He was 91-years-old.
Kirsch, who was of Jewish descent and the son of immigrants from Russia and Hungary, was born to in Manhattan, New York City, in 1929. It was there in New York City he would go on to graduate in 1946 from the Bronx High School of Science before heading off to New York University in 1950, followed by Harvard University in 1952 and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
