Stephen Barnes—of the well-known, recently dissolved personal injury firm Cellino & Barnes—has reportedly died in a plane accident in New York’s Genesee County.

The Buffalo News reports that a source at Steve Barnes’ law firm and another attorney said Barnes was piloting a small airplane on Friday when it crashed—and that Barnes owned the plane.

A third source told the outlet that a female relative was also on Board with Barnes, and she passed away as well. However, law enforcement sources haven’t confirmed the passengers’ identities or if anyone died.

During a press conference on Friday, Genesee County Sheriff William Sheron said the plane was “pretty much disintegrated.” He added, “There’s not much left at all.”

The Cardinals have a goodly number of pitchers enshrined in the National Baseball Hall of Fame, including Dizzy Dean and Jesse "Pop" Haines. But by any account, the greatest Cardinals pitcher of them all was Bob Gibson, who died at age 84 Friday night in Omaha, Nebraska, under hospice care after fighting pancreatic cancer for more than a year.

Gibson was the Cardinals’ second National Baseball Hall of Famer to die in the past month. His longtime teammate, Lou Brock, died at age 81 on Sept. 6. Gibson’s death came on the 52nd anniversary of perhaps his greatest game, a record 17-strikeout performance in Game 1 of the 1968 World Series.

Lyon Gardiner Tyler, Jr., one of the two surviving grandchildren of President John Tyler, passed away on September 26, 2020, at age 95. His death occurred 175 years after his grandfather left the White House in 1845.

If you know one fact about the 10th President of the United States, it's likely that his grandchildren have survived well into the 21st century. This was a result of the Tyler men fathering children late in life.
