Award-winning Swedish rapper Einar has been shot and killed in Stockholm at the age of 19.
The artist – real name was Nils Kurt Erik Einar Gronberg – was one of Sweden’s most popular rappers.
Per Reuters, no arrests have been made so far. The shooting took place on Thursday (21 October) in the Swedish capital’s upmarket suburb of Hammarby Sjostad.
In an incident last year, Einar was assaulted and abducted by rival rappers, whom it was determined had links with a Stockholm-based gang.
Several people were charged for their roles in the kidnapping and sentenced to prison, including the Swedish rapper Yasin Byn.

Peter Scolari, who rose to stardom on the brilliant-but-canceled “Bosom Buddies” alongside Tom Hanks, died Friday morning at age 66 of cancer, after a two-year illness.
His death was confirmed by his manager Ellen Lubin Sanitsky at Wright Entertainment.
Scolari was a prolific actor, both on television and on Broadway. He won an Emmy for his portrayal of Tad Horvath on “Girls,” the father of Hannah (Lena Dunham). In 1987-1989, he was nominated three times for supporting actor Emmys for his role as Michael Harris on “Newhart,” Bob Newhart’s beloved CBS comedy.
Scolari was working until recently, and was frequently featured on the recently concluded second season of “Evil,” as Bishop Thomas Marx.

Bob Neumeier, the affable broadcaster known as “Neumy” to legions of sports fans familiar with his work at Ch. 4, as a host on WEEI, or as a horse racing expert for NBC, died Saturday at age 70.
His wife Michele said he had suffered from congestive heart failure and heart disease. He had been in hospice care for the past eight weeks.
“He was a fiercely private person,’’ said Michele Ucci during a phone conversation Sunday afternoon. “He did not want anyone to know these last eight weeks except a few people, family and a couple of friends. He just said, ‘When I go, you know what? Everyone can know.’ This is that time. I took care of him for eight weeks, and Saturday was very hard, but he’s at peace now.”

Jay Black, lead singer for the 1960s pop group Jay and the Americans, has died at the age of 82. The band announced the singer's death in a statement posted to Facebook on Saturday.
"Today, we mourn the passing of David Blatt a/k/a Jay Black and we acknowledge the great successes we had with him both as a partner and as a lead singer," the band wrote. "We shared both wonderful and very contentious times, and much like an ex-wife, we are so proud of the beautiful children we created. We'll always remember The Voice." Bandmate and the Americans vocalist Sandy Deanne told The Associated Press that Black, born David Blatt, died on Friday due to complications from pneumonia.
Black was commonly known in the 1960s as "The Voice" for his crooning, doo wop-inspired vocals. He was the second singer for Jay and the Americans, replacing Jay Traynor, changing his stage name to Jay to match the group. His last name, Blatt, was changed to Black by mistake. "I was on the Mike Douglas show," he told The Forward in 2014. "One day, Mike asked me what my last name was and I mumbled Blatt, but he heard Black. He said, 'Black?' I said yes, a little lie. But everyone loved the name. Mike Douglas died without knowing he named me."

Mort Sahl, who confronted Eisenhower-era cultural complacency with acid stage monologues, delivering biting social commentary in the guise of a stand-up comedian and thus changing the nature of both stand-up comedy and social commentary, died on Tuesday at his home in Mill Valley, Calif., near San Francisco. He was 94.
The death was confirmed by Lucy Mercer, a friend helping to oversee his affairs.
Gregarious and contentious — he was once described as “a very likable guy who makes ex-friends easily” — Mr. Sahl had a long, up-and-down career. He faded out of popularity in the mid-1960s, when he devoted his time to ridiculing the Warren Commission report on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy; then, over the following decades, he occasionally faded back in. But before that he was a star and a cult hero of the intelligentsia.

A member of bands including Semi-Twang, The Delta Routine and Yipes!, to name just a few, Hoffmann had one of the most varied music careers of any musician in the city. In addition to producing artists including The Verve Pipe, Willy Porter, The Spanic Boys and Victor DeLorenzo, he also recorded with K.D. Lang, Herb Alpert, Marshall Crenshaw, Elvis Presley’s TCB Band and T-Bone Burnett, and briefly played bass for Marshall Crenshaw on a tour.

A. Linwood Holton Jr., Virginia’s first Republican governor since Reconstruction and a crusader against racial discrimination, died Thursday. He was 98.
Holton, who served from 1970 to 1974, declared an end to “Massive Resistance,” Virginia’s institutional defiance of federal orders to desegregate its schools. A moderate who raised taxes, he eventually fell out of favor with an increasingly conservative GOP he criticized as obsessed with cutting taxes at the expense of crucial services.
Holton died peacefully at his home in Kilmarnock, his children said in a statement shared by the office of Democratic U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine, Holton’s son-in-law. Kaine called Holton “more than a father-in-law — he was my friend and my public service role model.”
