Golf journalist Tim Rosaforte got the type of tribute today from Jack Nicklaus that journalists usually heap on legends like Jack Nicklaus. Rosaforte, who was one of the top golf journalists in the world and one of the most popular announcers on Golf Channel and NBC Sports, died Tuesday of Alzheimer’s disease. He was 66.
Nicklaus began a three-tweet tribute to Rosaforte with the following: “Many hearts, including Barbara’s & mine, hurt today after the passing of our friend Tim Rosaforte. Tim had a wonderful ability to develop trust from so many, and because of that—plus his work ethic—if there was an important story to be told in golf, Tim usually reported it first.”
The idea of trust comes up repeatedly in a video the golf great posted of his final visit with Roasforte last year, in which they speak about their bond, respect and, as Rosaforte puts it, “what’s going on with me, medically.”

Vincent J. Sainato, a visual designer whose ad campaigns for Rent and Avenue Q helped launch those musicals as long-running Broadway stalwarts, died Jan. 8 in Ipswich, Massachusetts, following a prolonged battle with cancer. He was 55.
With a career in visual design that spanned more than 25 years and encompassed the stage and television (including branding campaigns for MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon), Sainato is often credited for helping to define a new era in Broadway marketing.
After joining the new SpotCo agency in 2002 as Art Director, Sainato conceived a hugely successful Tony Award campaign for the dark horse musical Avenue Q. The quirky puppet musical won several Tonys in 2004, including Best Musical, beating out frontrunners Wicked and Caroline, Or Change.

Jordan Cashmyer, whose struggles as a teeage homeless mother were detailed by MTV, has died in Maryland at 26. Her death was confirmed by her mother in a Facebook post. No cause was given by a medical examiner cited in numerous reports.
MTV aired its 16 and Pregnant segment on Cashmyer and boyfriend Derek Taylor in 2014. She had been disowned by her family, who did not approve of the relationship and the duo became homeless when Taylor was unable to secure employment. She eventually gave birth to a daughter, Evie.
The two broke up after the show’s filming ended, but the struggles continued. Cashmyer’s father died, and eventually Jordan Cashmyer signed over custody rights in 2015 on a temporary basis to boyfriend Derek’s mother.

CNN anchors Jim Sciutto and Poppy Harlow paid emotional tribute to stage manager Jay Conroy, who died over the weekend, with Sciutto calling him “a deeply special person” who, among other things, shepherded the news staff to safety during a 2018 bomb threat.
Details of Conroy’s death, including cause and exact time, were not immediately available.
In addition to his CNN work, Conroy hosted the New York-based Rock Hard website and radio show featuring music, commentary and rock band interviews. Prior to CNN, Conroy worked backstage with various bands, and in 2012 CNN surprised him on camera with an in-person meeting with Conroy’s favorite band, Aerosmith.

Dallas Frazier, the songwriter behind such country hits as The Oak Ridge Boys’ “Elvira,” The Hollywood Argyles’ “Alley Oop” and Emmylou Harris’ “Beneath Still Waters,” has died, according to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s CEO Kyle Young. He was 82.
“Dallas Frazier is among the greatest country songwriters of all time. He could convey infectious fun with ‘Elvira,’ and then write something as stunningly sad and true as ‘Beneath Still Waters.’ His songs helped Connie Smith to become a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame,” said Young in a statement published the Country Music Hall of Fame’s official website. “He was a man of kindness, generosity and faith, who overcame a hardscrabble upbringing to offer smiling gifts to all of us. He lived a beautiful life of a beautiful mind.”

Yvette Mimieux was found dead Tuesday morning, a rep for her family confirmed. She had just turned 80 on January 8, and she passed away in her sleep of natural causes.
Mimieux was a prolific actress best remembered for starring opposite Rod Taylor in the 1960 George Pal-directed film version of the H.G. Wells novel The Time Machine at MGM, where she was soon put under a long-term contract. Another big hit came months after in Where the Boys Are. Among her other credits around that time were Platinum High School, Mr. Lucky, Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and Light in the Piazza.
The latter garnered her strong reviews for playing a mentally disabled girl, and at the time she said: “I supposed I have a soulful quality. I was often cast as a wounded person, the ‘sensitive’ role.” She played Dean Martin’s child bride in the 1963 pic Toys in the Attic and teamed with director Serge Bourguignon in the films The Reward and The Picasso Summer.

Fashion icon Andre Leon Talley has died at 73 ... TMZ has learned.
A source with direct knowledge tells us Vogue's former creative director and one-time editor-at-large passed away Tuesday at a hospital in White Plains, NY. It's currently unclear exactly what he was battling in the hospital.
Talley was instrumental to Vogue's vision and direction in the '80s and '90s, when he worked his way up the magazine ranks to eventually become the news director -- which he helmed from '83 to '87 -- and then ascended to Vogue's creative director in '88.

And this was after The Moon Knight trailer had dropped. Terrible news.

French actor Gaspard Ulliel has died following a skiing accident in the Alps, aged 37.
The accident, which occurred on Tuesday (18 January), took place in the Savoie region of the Alps, and an investigation into what happened is currently underway.
Following news of the accident, broadcaster France Bleu reported that the actor was in “serious condition”.
The mountain police service serving the site of the accident said it has been organising five or six rescues per day in recent weeks as the snow has hardened.

Hardy Kruger, a ruggedly handsome German actor best remembered for his leading and supporting roles in action and war films but who showed understated skill in tender dramas such as the Oscar-winning “Sundays and Cybèle,” died Jan. 19 in Palm Springs, Calif. He was 93.
His Hamburg-based literary agent, Peter Kaefferlein, confirmed the death but did not provide a cause.
Mr. Kruger starred in the 1957 British drama “The One That Got Away,” which was based on a true story about a captured German fighter pilot who stages daring attempts to escape the Allies and, as the title suggests, finally succeeds. The film, tautly directed by Roy Ward Baker, drew excellent reviews and elevated Mr. Kruger’s cachet in English-speaking cinema.

Quote:This is a bummer. Bat out of Hell is one of the best pure rock albums of the 70s. Guess I'll re-listen to it for the umpteenth time today. "Paradise by the Dashboard Light"'s big turn has made me laugh dozens of times.Originally Posted by Mister.Weirdo

I saw that he had Covid but I don't know whether that's related to his death.

Damn, this one kind of hurts, especially since he had cancer.
Comedian Louie Anderson, who won an Emmy for his work on "Baskets" in 2016, has died. He was 68.
The news comes just days after news that he was undergoing treatment for cancer, a diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), in a Las Vegas hospital. He was diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), a common version of non-Hodgkin lymphoma which is aggressive but potentially curable, according to the Lymphoma Research Foundation.
Anderson's agent, Glenn Schwartz, said the actor died "peacefully" Friday, citing "complications from cancer" as the cause of death.
