Gregory Allen Howard, the first African American screenwriter for a $100 million drama with Remember The Titans, died today in Miami after a brief illness, his publicist said. He was 70.

Howard also was the only African American screenwriter to write a spec script that became a $100 million movie, also for Remember the Titans, which starred Denzel Washington and was produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.

Actress Annie Wersching, best known for her roles in the television shows 24, Bosch and Timeless, died of cancer early this morning, her publicist confirmed. She was 45

She continued to shoot even after her 2020 diagnosis, with prominent roles in Star Trek: Picard as the Borg queen in Season 2, and The Rookie. She also voiced Tess in the popular The Last Of Us video game, which was adapted into a TV series by HBO.

Bobby Hull, hockey Hall of Famer and Stanley Cup champion, died Monday at 84, the Chicago Blackhawks announced.

“The Chicago Blackhawks are saddened by the passing of Blackhawks legend Bobby Hull, a superstar for our franchise between 1957 and 1972,” the Blackhawks wrote in a statement.

“Hull is part of an elite group of players who made a historic impact on our hockey club. The Golden Jet helped the Blackhawks win the 1961 Stanley Cup and delivered countless memories to our fans, whom he adored.

Lisa Loring, who played the young Wednesday Addams on “The Addams Family” from 1964 to 1966 and also appeared in “As the World Turns,” died Saturday of a stroke, her daughter Vanessa Foumberg confirmed. She was 64.

“She went peacefully with both her daughters holding her hands,” Foumberg said.

Cindy Williams, the dynamic actress known best for playing the bubbly Shirley Feeney on the beloved sitcom “Laverne & Shirley,” has died, according to a statement from her family, provided to CNN by a representative. She was 75.

Williams died after a short illness, said the statement from her children Zak and Emily Hudson, provided to CNN by family spokesperson and Williams’ personal assistant Liz Cranis.

Ira “Bob” Born, a candy company executive known as the “Father of Peeps” for mechanizing the process to make marshmallow chicks, has died. He was 98.

Just Born Quality Confections, the 100-year-old family-owned company Born led for much of his life, said Monday that he had died peacefully on Sunday.

Born began his life in New York City on Sept. 29, 1924. His father, Sam Born, was a Russian immigrant who started Just Born shortly before his son’s birth. The family later moved to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where Just Born is still based.

Bob Born graduated from Lehigh University with a degree in engineering physics. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a radar specialist and a lieutenant on a destroyer in the Pacific. Later, the Navy sent him to the University of Arizona and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for graduate work in math and physics.

According to published reports, Lee's passing comes days after his friend and colleague Adrian Hall passed away. The two were fundamental in establishing Trinity Rep in Providence, Rhode Island, where Lee resided with his wife, Brooke.

Lee won Tony Award for designing Wicked, Sweeney Todd, and Candide. He was also nominated for a Tony Award for Ragtime. He served as scenic designer for the original productions of Merrily We Roll Along and Seussical.

One of pop music's greatest composers, Burt Bacharach, has died aged 94.

He wrote enduring hits like I Say A Little Prayer, Walk On By and What The World Needs Now Is Love.

Along with lyricist Hal David, he also wrote numerous movie themes including What's New Pussycat and The Look Of Love, a major hit for Dusty Springfield.

Bacharach died Wednesday at home in Los Angeles of natural causes, his publicist Tina Brausam said.
