Lyricist Sheldon Harnick, who, with composer Jerry Bock, forged one of Broadway's most successful Broadway composing teams, responsible for such classics as Fiddler on the Roof and She Loves Me, has passed away. He was 99. The news was confirmed via Harnick's longtime publicist Sean Katz.

Frederic Forrest, a character actor who had a memorable role in 1979’s “Apocalypse Now” and earned an Oscar nomination for “The Rose” in the same year, died Friday in Santa Monica. He was 86.

Forrest’s death was first reported by his “Rose” co-star Bette Midler, who paid tribute to the actor on Twitter.

Alan Arkin, an Oscar-winning actor for “Little Miss Sunshine” with a body of work that spans seven decades of stage and screen acting, died June 29 at his home in Carlsbad, Calif, Variety has confirmed. He was 89.

Arkin’s sons Adam, Matthew and Anthony said in a joint statement, “Our father was a uniquely talented force of nature, both as an artist and a man. A loving husband, father, grand and great grandfather, he was adored and will be deeply missed.”

Actress Andrea Evans, best known for her roles on the soap operas "One Life to Live," "The Bold and The Beautiful" and "Passions," has died. She was 66.

Evans died Sunday at her home in Pasadena, California, following a battle with breast cancer, Evans' representative Nick Leicht confirmed to USA TODAY on Monday.

^Yeah, sad to hear, especially since it was almost definitely suicide given her situation and last tweet.

I only have two of her albums (so far), but always loved her music. I remember when I first saw the video to "Nothing Compares 2 U." I was in a mall that had a multi-TV display and was haunted by this beautiful, sad lady. Still am. I also highly recommend her album of traditional/modern Irish music Sean-Nós Nu.
