James Rebhorn was a character actor that will most likely be remembered for either his recent role on television as Frank Mathison in "Homeland" or his many, many film characters from Secretary of Defense Albert Nimziki in Independence Day -- "Excuse me Mr. President, that's not entirely accurate." -- or Dr. Larry "It's only a game Focker!" Banks in Meet the Parents. Either way, James Rebhorn was an actor you didn't forget and today we learn of his passing at the age of 65.

          • Gwar frontman Dave Brockie aka Oderus Urungus dies, aged 50

Gwar frontman Dave Brockie has died at the age of 50.

The metal star, known to fans by his stage name Oderus Urungus, was found dead at his home yesterday evening (March 23) by his roommate.

"Dave was one of the funniest, smartest, most creative and energetic persons I've known," ex-GWAR bassist Mike Bishop told Richmond's Style Weekly.

"He was brash sometimes, always crass, irreverent, he was hilarious in every way. But he was also deeply intelligent and interested in life, history, politics and art."

Richmond Police Department spokeswoman Dionne Waugh later added to the magazine that they "do not suspect foul play at this time".

Gwar's manager Jack Flanagan later said: "It is with a saddened heart that I confirm my dear friend Dave Brockie, artist, musician, and lead singer of GWAR passed away at approximately 6:50 PM EST Sunday March 23, 2014.

"His body was found Sunday by his band mate at his home in Richmond, VA. Richmond authorities have confirmed his death and next of kin has been notified. A full autopsy will be performed. He was 50 years old, born August 30, 1963.

"My main focus right now is to look after my band mates and his family. More information regarding his death shall be released as the details are confirmed."

I've never seen them live, but my cousin turned me on to them a few years ago and I've never looked back. Still, a concert would be great... I hear that their stage show is unparalleled. Not sure if it'll happen now... or be the same.

                  • One of the times I saw them, they opened for themselves as another band called the X-Cops. That set was hilarious in it's own right. Best Song? "Cavity Search".

Lorenzo Semple Jr., the creator of the campily classic Batman TV series who went on to craft such big-screen paranoid thrillers as The Parallax View and Three Days of the Condor -- though he would be replaced on both films -- has died. He turned 91 on Thursday.

Creator is the wrong word but he was involved in it's creation, per Wikipedia:

While living in Spain in 1965, Semple was approached by producer William Dozier to develop a television series for ABC based on the comic book Batman. Semple wrote a pilot which was promptly picked up, and the series based on it put on the air, with popular success. Semple wrote the first four episodes. Semple also served as Executive Story Editor, a capacity in which he put his writing imprint on all of the first season's scripts, and at the same time provided the screenplay for the 1966 Batman feature film version.
