From what I remember of the story, she was mouthing off about Jewish people during one of Bay's movies. Spielberg got wind of it and basically said "see ya!' That's why she wasn't in TF3.

You learn something new every day. I didn't even know Speilberg was an Executive Producer on all the Transformers movies until you mentioned this and I looked it up. My first reaction was, "Why the heck would Speilberg have anything to do with who was in a Transformer movie?" Now I know.

Actually, on the making of stuff they make it sound like Spielberg pursued it before Bay. He said part of it was that his kids were fans.
