                              The problem with this philosophy, as it seems to be stated here, is that is assumes that individuality unbeholden to societal, governmental, or religious expectations of what is right, is somehow sure to be a good thing. Experience tells us that often people who have a strong feeling that what they think is right is more important than what any larger group expectation holds to be right are in fact rather nasty pieces of work.

                              I assume that whoever wrote this would insist that those people haven't really found their real selves, but that's the same thing proponents of most philosophies will say when people point to less than stellar examples of people that seem to follow their philosphy, "Well they aren't REALLY fill-in-the-blank, whatever they may claim".

                              And that may well be true in many cases (probably is), but as an argument it is not very useful, because it isn't really falsifiable.
