Do women love men who are jerks?

Part of the problem is how does one classify a jerk? Because most people have their jerkish moments. And even more LOOK like jerks to people who just dislike them for one reason or another. I think the people who I would classify as BEING jerks (meaning behaving in a more or less consistently jerky manner) are distinctly in the minority (certainly among the the group of people I have met or learned enough about through other means to make an educated judgement, which is obviously the only group about which I can speak with any assurance).

I'm not saying that marriage and dating are the same thing, except insofar that they are both relationships that you get into with somebody you LIKE (hopefully, anyway).

You are saying that most women like jerks. That SHOULD mean that most romantic relationships between a woman and a man will be between a woman and a jerk, shouldn't it? Or else that a whole lot of women are getting into romantic relationships with guys they don't like. Those options follow logically from your premise.

But that is conclusion jumping. We are talking atractivness,not nessecarly realtionships. Realtionships is a whole diffrent ball game. You can be with a person for all kinds of reasons.

This. I've heard a bunch of guys say this or something similar, but I don't know that I've ever heard it from a guy in a happy, long-lasting relationship.

In my experience there are an awful lot of nice guys out there (more than the real jerks in my experience), and an awful lot of them seem to have found women that love them. That seems statistically unlikely if it is really true that MOST women prefer jerks.

The observation is simply that women prefer men who are jerks. I don't think it was implying all women. because some Women prefer other Women. I believe that on it's head. the idea is Most women prefer men who are jerks,and in my expeirances this is true. A question worthy of a seprat thread,would be why is this?

Well, that question is only worthy of a separate thread for those that accept your initial premise that MOST women prefer jerks, of course.

In addition, confident men typically tend to be more fun and outgoing as opposed to an introverted, stereotypical "nice guy" that's conservative and boring. Just my observation over the years, and it's not across the board.

I think your point about confidence is a good one. At least it makes sense to me that an abundance of confidence might easily translate to arrogance/jerkiness.

I'm not so sure about your opposition of "nice guy" and "fun and outgoing". In my experience the people of who I would say they are a "nice guy", they are generally among the outgoing ones. I think it is difficult to be seen as nice by others if you aren't being nice TO them, which kind of requires social interaction that the introvert doesn't do well. My brother-in-law is one of the nicest guys I've ever met, and the reason I feel that way is that he's so fun and pleasant to be around.

Though I will admit that there is a tendency to describe people who are introverted and sort of boring as "nice", simply because that's the default non-insult description. The person is inoffensive, so you don't want to speak ill of them, but you can't come up with anything more distinctively positive than "nice".

Since I've become slightly more of an asshole and more of a jerk, plus slightly more confidant I must admit I've attained more female friends (not in that way, but just friends) which is an improvement from having none.
