  • Guardians of the Galaxy - The Movie - Spoiler Thread

Alright, since GotG is hitting theaters in the UK, soon in the US, not so soon in some parts of Europe, not at all soon in Germany and anything but soon in Japan, the best way to avoid spoilers in the Marvel news thread would probably be to outsource any discussion of the movie into its own thread. This thread.
So knock yourselves out, have fun discussin g the plot twists, cameos and whatevs, I'll be joining you once I've seen the actual film.

just got home and oh my god i loved every second of it. imo i think its 100% better than avengers.

gunn did an amazing job and there were a few moments where the heart strings got pulled.

i loved the pacing of the film and man i was amazed at how the gotg were so spot on in there discussions. there were some heart string pulling moments also . to me its hard to say who stole the show because the film did a amazing job focusing on all 5 of the charachters. i got like a movie high from this and a good one. for people who had fears about this being like green lantern trust me its not. i laughed so hard at specific moments my lungs actually hurt. and josh brolins voice in the film is menacing . i also got a raiders of the lost arc feel with empire strikes back and lee pace was amazing as ronan. nebula was done nice for the amount of time she had and i wish she had more screen time. the soundtrack is just amazing. its been a very long time since i saw a good comedy type film and man i was impressed

i have to say i got to give this a perfect 10.

I'm not one to get too hyperbolic, but I really do think this is the best Marvel flick (Marvel Studios or otherwise) to be released so far. The whole film has as much of a late-70's/80's vibe as its soundtrack, combining the space exploration and swashbuckling from Star Wars and the classic adventure from Back to the Future. I don't say that lightly, as each would probably come in as one of my 10 favorite movies ever.

I'm going to see it again at some point this weekend to see if my initial love of the film really stands. I haven't had that much fun at the movies in years.

Just got back from seeing it and I have to see it again but I'd say this is probably my favorite or second favorite Marvel movie released so far. It oozes fun, and has such an unapologetic feel to everything. It doesn't try to explain why it is, it just asks that you sit back and enjoy the ride. My only complaint is I want to know so much more about the worlds established. At the same time it kind of felt like it was simply racing to the end and I would have liked it to slow down and breathe. But that's the only negative thing I really have to say.

All the performances were top notch, each character felt unique and no one felt like they were dragging. I thought maybe Gamora and Drax were going to be weak links, but they held their own and proved to be worthy. Drax I have to especially give props to for having a different vibe than I initially thought he was going to have going in. Ronin was a good villain, the performance reminded me of Shakespeare a bit, like his dialogue was something out of Hamlet. Which is a good thing, cause it was comedic and gave a bit of fresh air when compared to more grounded Marvel villains that have been introduced. This image did pop into my head once or twice while he was talking though....

so do you think a franchise like this can create a cosmic universe with other cosmic charachters and NOT connect to the current mcu? because to me what made it work amazingly is it was in a sense marvels first standalone film having nothing to do with avengers ironman hulk ect.

i like to think of phase one and part of phase 2 more earthbound wile i consider gotg more of a whole new opening to introduce more space adventure type films.

I'm surprised that this film is so popular, I would have though it was a failure as I had never heard of them before the film was announced. I've not seen the film yet and don't intend to see it in the cinema and I'm even doubtful I'll watch it at all.

yep they are. apparently i can confirm they only had one credit scene. now i know ziltch on howard the duck but i do think with how rr and groot were recieved amongst the average movie goer audience maybe howard the duck could make a comeback and actually be good?
