so do you think a franchise like this can create a cosmic universe with other cosmic charachters and NOT connect to the current mcu? because to me what made it work amazingly is it was in a sense marvels first standalone film having nothing to do with avengers ironman hulk ect.

i like to think of phase one and part of phase 2 more earthbound wile i consider gotg more of a whole new opening to introduce more space adventure type films.

I think they could do it that way if they wanted to, but I don't think they will or should. I will say that I probably want to see a sequel with nothing but these characters again to expand on them some more, before connecting them to the established Marvel U. So let's say I'm not in a rush to see it happen, but I would like to see it happen eventually.

I'm surprised that this film is so popular, I would have though it was a failure as I had never heard of them before the film was announced. I've not seen the film yet and don't intend to see it in the cinema and I'm even doubtful I'll watch it at all.

You have to love the power of marketing. And the Howard the Duck is just a fun cameo.

gunn did say he had bug in the first draft. i kind of wonder if we will see him or mantis sometime in the sequel cameo or roster role.

i admit i never had the oppertunity to read the dna run ( to pricey for the trades) but i loved what gunn did for the silver screen incarnation.

he has expressed interest about a mrs marvel movie so a franchise like gotg could introduce her since they have the whole kree storyline.

yep they are. apparently i can confirm they only had one credit scene. now i know ziltch on howard the duck but i do think with how rr and groot were recieved amongst the average movie goer audience maybe howard the duck could make a comeback and actually be good?

Jesus. What on Earth are they thinking. I can't believe I like in a world where Howard the duck got a bad movie in the 80s and is now gong to make a comeback but there is no Doctor Strange, Black Panther or Ironfist film, then DC have barely scratched the surface of their character list.

well marvel is owned by disney so maybe howard the duck will be more for kids? i dont think any of us can deny ever since disney bought marvel they had great success

dude if howard the duck makes disney money from the children demographic who cares? disney is a buisness just like marvel as long they make money there happy. why do you think pixar films do big numbers? because its family orianted and kid friendly

Well yeah, but at the end of the day I'm just highly surprised. I know that if they did make a Howard the Duck film (which I still doubt even now, I think he'll just feature in a future film instead of star in it) I wouldn't bother watching it, I'm just surprised that they've decided to do it. Ah well, I suppose Marvel have been running out of ideas, since they've done most of their superheroes now or have them in development.

Well that is.....interesting. But to be honest I don't really care as I won't watch it.

I think they have run out of ideas really, or are beginning to. Or at least in the sense that all of their new ideas seem to be sequels and B characters no one has ever heard of. Yes they have lots of plans but they're all sequels save for a few exceptions. Spider-Man for example in my opinion has completely and utterly run out of any good ideas.
