The Howard the Duck appearance makes much more sense in the context of the film itself, which Deadpool admittedly hasn't seen.
It's a fun cameo with The Collector. Thinking this means that Howard the Duck is going to instantly became a leading movie character is just off a bit without seeing the whole thing.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Blows Estimates Away With Possible $95-98 Million Opening Weekend
Thanks to good word-of-mouth and a healthy marketing push before it, Marvel and Disney have a huge hit on their hands with James Gunn‘s “Guardians of the Galaxy.” Latest estimates have it on track to bring in between $95-98 million over its opening weekend, which could surpass “Captain America: The Winter Soldier's” $95.023 million.
The unusual sci-fi/superhero film was an uncertainty in the blockbuster Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise, but appears to have more than earned its already-greenlit sequel, set for 2017. The film already set the best Thursday debut of the year with $11.2 million, and is on pace for a nearly $40 million Friday.
Should it best “Captain America” for the weekend, “GotG” would sit behind only “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” with its $100 million opener, as the second-highest grossing film of the year. That said, it's not completely outside the realm of possibility that “Guardians” could finish even higher.
t's currently sitting at a 91 percent positive rating with Rotten Tomatoes, and experiencing good word of mouth. With a talking raccoon and tree counted among its main characters, the film has a huge potential appeal to children and families, which could generate smaller than average Saturday and Sunday declines, boosting its overall total.

This movie wasn't afraid to avoid romance as a central theme and focus on the group dynamic. It also wasn't afraid to adapt the whacky characters and settings from the source material. In other words, it didn't make all of the mistakes that Green Lantern made.
Every retail store is loaded with X-men, Spider-man, Avengers, and now GotG toys and clothing. Is Marvel a bigger entertainment phenomenon than Star Wars or Harry Potter? I don't know the answer to that question, but I never envisioned the time when I could even formulate that question 20 years ago.Check out my Green Lantern product reviews on Twitter as the Emerald Enthusiast! @EmeraldEnthusi1

Of course Marvel are bigger and better, Star Wars consists or six films and a terrible CGI TV show even kids don't really watch anymore. Sure back in the 80s and such Star Wars was big but the films were still coming out then. There's not been a Star Wars film in about a decade.
Harry Potter doesn't even chart near the top, it was never as big as either Star Wars or Marvel, in fact I'm not sure why it was mentioned. And note I like in the UK. Doctor Who is quite big actually. Yeah for this decade I'd say Marvel, Doctor Who and Star Wars (for reasons beyond me) are pretty big. But I'm not 100% really, I haven't stepped foot in a kids shops or anything for years, why would I? I'm just doing this from memory.Last edited by Deadpool; 08-02-2014, 01:16 PM.Originally posted by IonFan(even if the ear sucking helped get me off faster)Originally posted by Big Daddy CaesarIf I had things like the internet and a laptop as a kid, I never would have left my room as a teenager.Originally posted by QuakerI am the Geoff Johns of the GLCMB.
