^I feel like I'd need to know more before completely condemning them. (1) Not many unarmed people are going to take on a knife-wielding attacker [I feel like I'd try to do something, but I don't know, it's never come up, thankfully]; (2) the video people might be the ones that ensure a conviction.
Now, if it becomes clear (the article didn't seem that detailed) that nobody called for help or said anything and just stood there taping him for their own amusement, then, yeah, that's despicable.
