Arnold wrote books about bodybuilding and never mentioned that he took steroids. He started taking them at age 15 in Austria. Joe Weider looked the other way when he knew his contestants were using them. Yes, that's cheating.

Modern sensibilities know that it was cheating, but it wasn't viewed that way until steroids started to be linked to health problems. There was a time when they were seen as no more harmful than other health supplements, and their use among muscle-building athletes was widespread. And if you're giving out bodybuilding advice in books and magazines, and have been taking a controlled muscle-building substance since age 15 but won't tell anyone, then you're bullshitting people. Sergio Oliva, one of Arnold's rivals, said Arnold and Franco Colombu had better steroids than anyone else because they were getting them shipped in from Europe. So no, it doesn't look as if everybody did what Arnold did.

Theres a YouTube channel called vice and they did a entire episode about steroids. People are nuts because steroids aren't cheap. One guy said some people pay a few grand per cycle monthly. Ill never understand why people want to do steroids.
