  • Flash Movie Stalled, But Not Out of the Race

At a July 1 press conference for The Dark Knight, producer Charles Roven discussed the long-delayed film adaptation of The Flash with iF Magazine. David Dobkin (The Wedding Crashers) is still director, but there isn’t much more to say, since they’re “not even writing it yet.”

Back in December 2004, the project was first announced with Batman Begins’ David Goyer as writer/director. His version would have “showcase[d] the legacy aspect of the hero” and played up the sci-fi elements, “playing with relativity, Doppler effects and all kinds of things like that.” Goyer actually wrote and finished a script.

By February 2007, DC had decided to abandon Goyer’s draft, hired Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum), and re-positioned it to be a spin-off of the planned Justice League movie. Just 8 months later, they’d handed the film to Dobkin.

Last Year’s Writers Guild of America strike put both films on hold. And with continuing delays on Justice League: Mortal (currently scheduled for 2011), it’s unclear whether The Flash will still have to wait its turn, or if it’ll run out of the gate first

Look, I know you guys don't care nearly as much as me, but DAMNIT!! The fact that they are NOT using a David Goyer script after TWO critically acclaimed comic movies is ridiculous. But what really pisses me off is that it is STILL being considered a spin-off of the shelved Justice League movie! If that movie was shelved, why not push Flash forward..lol..The more I hear about the Flash these days the more I want to Anyway, just wanted to let you guys know that this movie won't be worth seeing..Clearly WB doesn't realize that putting Comedy/Family film directors onto superhero movies such as JL and Flash is fucking stupid.

    Thank you for your time.

Huh? I thought Flash was going to be spun directly out of the JLA movie.

my guess it still will be since JL is planned for 2011 and Flash has no script.

They should use Goyer's script, no doubt. WB is really fucking retarded when it comes to super hero films. They act like Goyer hasn't written blockbuster's before and like this wouldn't be a successas well. Besides, Goyer also revealed that Barry Allen and Wally West were going to star in his adaptation. HOW FUCKING AWESOME IS THAT!?!?!

They really need to get past this Justice League and spin-of movies idea. Haven't they heard enough bitching from the fans to get it that we don't want it made. Let alone anything to spin off directly from it.

Same goes for Wonder Woman. They need to go back to having Joss Whedon on board. No one else would be able to do as good of a job with her movie as he could.

FUCK WB. DC needs to branch off like Marvel and take matters into their own hands. It's the only way anything will get done right and will get done properly.
