  • What was the WORST book you've ever read?

    Twilight.

I would drink to forget it, but I'm a teetotaler.

    Gerald's Game - Stephen King.

I wouldn't say it's THE worst, but it's up there.

A wonderfully disgustingly awful book called A Dog About Town. In which a sentient chocolate lab teaches his human to be a detective. I work part time at a book store while I'm in law school and I run our mystery bookclub. This local author walks in and gives me a copy of the book and says that if our club reads it he would be glad to come and hang out with us. I wanted to set fire to the man by page 10.

The 13th Legion, it's a Warhammer 40,000 novel, I never really felt a connection to any of the characters and constantly lost track of where the story was going

          Harry Potter

My extended family were the ones waiting for the midnight releases at Barnes and Noble.

So about by the time the 5th book came out my Dad finally talked me into reading the first one. I read the whole book and the whole time kept thinking it's got to get better, it's got to get better. They don't read anything else except for Twilight if that tells you anything.

I've blocked the actual title out of my memory, but it was a book by L. Ron Hubbard, the first in a series of 10. I got it because I was going to be riding in the back of a car on a cross-country trip, and we were so crowded that I was going to have things packed ON TOP of me. I wanted a nice long book, and I like Science Fiction, and this was the thickest book on the shelf in the Sci-Fi section.

All I can say is, no wonder this guy had to make up a religion to make any money. In that entire book, almost nothing happened, and the characters that weren't doing anything interesting weren't even remotely interesting in and of themselves. EASILY the worst book I have ever read, and the only reason I even finished it was a combination of boredom and morbid curiosity.

I've been wondering why we don't have a What Book Are You Currently Reading? thread. We have one for music and movies, but not books.

"A Walk to Remember" by Nicholas Sparks.

The book sucked and I met the author shortly thereafter and he was such a pompous ass I wanted to punch him in the face!

That sucks because the movie was so good.

I don't think I've ever read a really bad book.

I won't even see the movie. In fact...to be a complete ass...it is one of the few times I ever rooted for cancer.

                      Man I hated that book.

                      And more so the author.

I don't think I've ever read a really bad book, but there are some books I've struggled to read because they were really slow. such as lord of the rings & great expectations

Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler. I read about two-thirds of it and had to quit.

The Bible was excruciating too, especially the Old Testament.

                              The Vampire Armand

now, i'm a massive Anne Rice fan... in fact two of my all time favorite books are by Anne Rice... but Armand... it's just drivel, it's utterly dire with no plot to speak of, absolutely shite characterisaton and some of the worst storyline it has ever been my misfortune to read.
