  • And Apple loves you for that.

I think that what's the comic book industry is moving to. A digital distribution outlet for consumers. At some point, I hope there is a flat rate subscription to an unlimited titles.

    • I think Comixology is doing a pretty good job. I like reading Smallville Season 11 on my iPhone and I've bought the Michael Turner Sketchbooks on there for $9.99 a piece. They cost $39.99 from the Aspen Store. I want an iPad just for reading comics, but I just did go out and buy Justice League #12 at my local comic book store. I feel pretty split on it. There are a couple of collections I'd like digitally, just my favorite arcs such as Superman: Last Son and Superman/Batman: Public enemies. And then there are Hardcovers and Absolute Editions, which I also love.

      So many choices!!!

*Smallville I am buying digitally through Comixology and at my local comic book store when they are collected. Support both industries and the comic, so hopefully a Season 12 will happen

When Comixology lets me download my comics onto my PC then I'll start using it, but at the moment it's pretty rubbish for what I want it for. i.e. a) reading comics on the train when I'm visiting friends and family out of town; b) when my flatmates are stealing all the bandwith (most week day evenings) c) peak internet time (12-2; 6-9pm).
I fail to understand why it's designed so that one can download onto a tablet or smartphone but not to PC.

        • I've been reading my comics exclusively on my Kindle Fire since March and I doubt I'll ever go back to paper comics.

For me, Comixology has been great.

          • I posted this in the DC thread but effective immediately Comixology will be releasing new DC comics at 3 AM EST. That's pretty cool if you use the service.

            • I'm reading more and more digital comics.

I'm only buying floppies of X-Men titles and Batman. I find it easier to read digital comics on the train as I don't have to pull a comic from it's protective plastic container and then place it back in.

              • Don't know if I've posted this here already or not, but...

I will never, ever stop buying paper comics. I will never, ever buy digital comics. If I have my way, then until the day I die will be buying comics I can pull out a sleeve and turn the pages and read and admire and then keep forever in a longbox.

That's the way my Dad did it, that's the way I do it.

Sorry. Don't mean to rain on anyone's digital comics parade...

                • I support both. I usually buy print, but occassionally I'll buy a digital comic or two. I bought all of my (new52) Batwoman issues in digital form.

                  • Well, I think I posted somewhere that I buy most of my books in paper.
However, I have been trying to catch up with some kiddie titles (Mega Man, IDW's TMNT) and obscure ones that were on sale. I bought those trades digitally (trades aren't really collectible anyway) and like reading them that way. However, if I catch up I'll buy 'em monthly in paper.

You didn't rain on my digital comics parade. I'm actually glad that there are people devoted to hard copy medium because I would hate for comic shops to go into extinction.

I still enjoy going to comic conventions and buying comic books and then meeting the artists and writers and having them (artists/writers) sign them (comic books). You can't have writers and artists sign your digital comic.

Well you can, but you go through a lot of iPads that way.

                        • So, comixology made me update my app in order to use the store, but now I've lost all my paid digital comics! Ugh. I e-mailed their tech support, but we'll see.

You didn't lose anything, you should be able to redownload them.

Yeah, I read their FAQ on this and followed it: I re-downloaded the old ap, signed in and synced it, but it didn't work. The FAQ says if that happens, it probably means I have 2 accounts under one e-mail (which is possible because I could've ordered from the ap and from iTunes). So, it said to e-mail them and they'd merge them. At least I've read everything I had, but obviously I don't want to lose it forever.

                              • According to my manifest (I only keep one for GL), today's GLs #15 is the one thousandth Green Lantern issue in my comic collection!

                                Couple caveats, though:
                                (1) I can't swear that number is 100% accurate. Occasionally, I've compared the number in each volume to my total tally and they don't match. But, so far, that has always meant I had more than I thought.

                                (2) Although that number does not include the few issues of Guy Gardner or Spectre I have, it does currently count the full runs of Red Lanterns and Sinestro. If I only counted books that strictly have the words "Green Lantern" in the title (which I'm tempted to do), I'm 60+ short.
