Shit this is hard...mainly because I'm a huge fan of story arcs rather than one issue being so wonderful. The payoff issues are easy to select but its a bit hard to pick because they wouldn't be shit without those set up issues.

Yeah, it's definately a lot harder to choose. When we were kids, comics were all about the stand alone story. In the last 15 years, publishers have really drifted torwards story arcs because of the trade market as an extra sale, and getting into bookstores. I think that may be why mine has stayed the same for so long, though my favorite story arc changes every few years.
Maybe an separate thread should be done for arcs?
