I started reading GL back in the early 80’s. I guess it was a few issues before the release of the ‘Tales of the Green Lantern Corps’. That mini series is what really hooked be into the mythos. Also that was the time Marv Wolfman was writing GL in the peak of his Teen Titians career. I took a break in the late 80s while in college but picked up again with the Emerald Dawn. Stuck with GL to just before the Parallax debacle. I guess I dropped out of all comics around that time once Sandman wrapped up. But I couldn’t stay away and picked up GL in 1999 only to find Hal gone. Ended up following Kyle just because he was the only deal. I had to pick up all the back issues to figure out where Hal disappeared. Don’t get me wrong, there were some fun Kyle stories, but if I wanted a randomly chosen 20-something hero, I’d read Spiderman. A test pilot/fighter pilot is a true hero. That is the fundamental difference to me and why I enjoy Hal WAY MORE than Kyle.

Needless to say the last ten years has found me collecting ever single issue of GL. I have everything from Showcase #22 on with the exception of #6 and #76 of Volume 2. What can I say; I’m cheap and waiting for a reasonable price! I think I have every DC Direct GL related figures including the latest Black Lantern Hal and White Lantern Sinestro.
So the last 5 years since “Rebirth” have been a great time for me. Still can’t believe we are going to finally have a Green Lantern movie! I have also been lucky enough to watch a fight scene getting filmed in New Orleans and got Ryan Reynolds to sign my Vol 4 #1 issue! This is a great time to be a Green Lantern fan.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes! Just spent a rainy day re-reading BLACKEST NIGHT, BN:GL and BN:GL Corps. Kind of impressive how 'cohesive' the issues interlaced. Geoff really jammed in a lot of stuff in these issues.
