Just found this forum, and it's just what I've been looking for. I've been posting on the Superhero Hype boards for years, but there isn't much going on there in terms of Green Lantern discussion.
I'm something of a recent convert to the Green Lantern mythology. Like many, it was Sinestro Corps War that first got me into Green Lantern. Before that, I'd never picked up a Green Lantern comc. But I got the first couple of issues of the Sinestro Corps War storyline, and LOVED it. However, things got hectic in real life, meaning that for a few months I stopped buying comic books. When I got back into the groove, Sinestro Corps War was just finishing up, and I had missed too many issues to catch up.
While I went back to picking up my usual titles (mostly Batman stuff), the disappointment about not reading the rest of the Sinestro Corps War continued to gnaw at me. And so I decided to give "Green Lantern" another go. Luckily, timing was on my side, as Johns was just starting up his Secret Origins arc. The perfect jumping-on point for a new fan!
I'm absolutely loving this origin story. Hal Jordan is such a great character. I started picking up "Green Lantern Corps" as well as "Green Lantern", and I'm enjoying this current "Ringquest" story. I went back and bought the "No Fear" TPB as well. And that did a first-class job at introducing me to some of Green Lantern's rogues gallery. I went online and ordered "Rebirth" and, yes, "Sinestro Corps War, Volume 1". I really can't wait to read these. Especially since I bought "Sinestro Corps War, Volume 2" in the comic store yesterday, but don't want to read it until I've completed Volume 1.
I think now is an exciting time to be a "Green Lantern" fan, and as such I picked the perfect time to jump onboard. Looking forward to learning more on here!
