As for the return of Amon Sur... I have to admit, I was a bit surprised to see him resurrected after I decapitated him at the end of #175. But hey, it's comics. No one stays dead forever... ;-)

Yes, this was supposed to set up another arc I had in mind. The idea was that Lianna intentionally used her power as a Guardian to override Kyle's ring's ability to protect him from fatal harm, forcing him to literally save himself... Which he then did by transporting himself INTO the ring and then transferring it to someone he trusted to safeguard until such time as he could heal himself (anyone remember the last page of #175?). Kyle was then going to have this whole adventure INSIDE his own ring... Alas, 'twas never to be...

Thank you, you have no idea how many conspiracy theories I've tried to work that cliff hanger into over the years. Since Marz abruptly took over after that, and news of Rebirth on the horizon... then the whole mess of the Rann/Than war, Infinite Crisis, and Ion.... all the way to Countdown I was convinced... CONVINCED the whole 'Kyle Rayner should not be alive' thing that kept coming up was referring back to Lianna stabbing him.

Absolutely convinced of it... because we'd been led to believe that plot threads for IC had been planted years in the past...

Yeah... I eventually had to give up hope on that... but it is nice to finally know the truth.
