No John came out in Dec 70/Jan 71,BL (another on of my favorites)came out in 77.

but see DCU keeps john so far on the low that when you see a scene like that you think he just snaps on batman but really its his attitude and if your not a hardcore or longterm fan you don't know that

Maybe they think of John as the type of guy whose the silent but deadly type and when he gets pissed off we get to see that "other" side of him.I wish he'd be more aggressive like that all the time personally.

I thought JS had a great outting in SCW.Especially in the finale.He showed alot of leadership too.Maybe not career defining but excellent leadership ability and kicked some major ass too.

Think that's also why I like the scans with him telling off Batman, they're in the same vein as John's first appearance. The a guy with a lot of anger who sticks to his principles, bedamned whose challenging them.

That's not how I see John, but that's mostly because I got to know him more when he was in the GLC title with Kat. While his first appearance was definitely in the "angry young man" phase of his life, he was a much mellower person with Katma in his life. While I'm sure he might show that anger now and again, I like the way he described himself in "Mosaic" - an architect, who builds things from the ground up (vs Hal who flew high above) and wasn't afraid to get his hands dirty (hence his bare hands, just as his not wearing a mask was indicative of his character back then).

Perhaps, but my Mosaic collection is sporatic and missing large chunks, so I didn't get that sense.

I think between him and Hal, Kyle, and Guy, John probably got the least amount of time throughout the Sinestro Corps War. And by a fairly large margin.

I agree. But I think it sets him up for some good things for the years to come.

Okay. I hope in the short time I've been here I've already demo'd that I have nothing but love for John, and I feel because of that love I can say what needs be said. Regarding John's first appearence? (I'm not quoting because I don't feel that those of us on dial up need the pic to load again when if you've read the thread you've seen it already) Dude no one and I mean NO ONE looks good in a neckerchief. I'm just sayin.
